Human Resources Manager and Compliance Officer (Maternity Cover, Full or Part-time)
Mount House School is a small, co-educational independent day school for students aged 11 - 18 years located on a stunning rural site on Camlet Way in the London Borough of Barnet. With 240 students currently on roll, the School has ambitious plans and investment to grow to 350 in the coming years. Experience of HR and Compliance within the Education sector is highly desirable, but is not essential.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Mount House School as a HR Manager and Compliance Officer to cover a maternity absence either full or part-time (0.6FTE). We are seeking to appoint a qualified and resourceful HR Manager to join our successful and growing school, starting October half-term.The HR Manager will be a trusted advisor to the leadership team in terms of providing advice on all people matters, including processes, policies, recruitment, and best practice.

Key Responsibilities:
The Human Resources Manager will manage the overall provision of HR within the school including the HR Strategy, HR policies and procedures, safer recruitment.
HR Strategy
Draft and obtain approval for an HR Strategy for the school in conjunction with the Bursar.
Develop yearly plans to articulate the delivery of the HR Strategy
Develop and implement school HR policies, procedures and practices in accordance with statutory legal requirements and reflecting good practice
HR Business Partnering
Act as a strategic partner to the Senior Leadership Team and Heads of Faculty regarding HR issues both strategic and operational
Present on HR matters, take forward the wellbeing agenda and update staff on changing trends, new legislation and new initiatives
Coach and influence senior leaders in the adoption and use of effective leadership and management practices
Provide leadership of major change initiatives, strategic staffing plans and successful organisation development as they pertain to current and future staff
Run restructures and reorganisations as required by the Senior Leadership Team
Review staff relation issues and recommend appropriate responses to management
Coordinate recruitment and retention strategies and succession planning processes
HR/Recruitment Administration
Development of job descriptions for the future organisation
Development and placement of appropriate job advertisements, taking into account the need for a balanced EDI approach
Support in the development of interview guides
Support in interviewing
Management of compliance with safer recruitment, including maintenance of the Single Central Record
Oversee the onboarding and probationary processes for all new employees
Creation, issue and follow up on all contractual documentation including offer letters and statements of particulars
Accurate collation and preparation of monthly data for payroll submission
Management of sickness absence and any referrals to occupational health
Maintaining accurate training records for each employee
Maintaining up to date personnel files
Dealing with all HR enquiries
Monitor statutory and regulatory requirements for the school (e.g., ISI framework, Keeping Children Safe in Education, UK GDPR, Health & Safety legislation).
Work with different departments across the school to ensure risk assessments, fire safety, and health and safety policies are compliant and up to date.
HR Analytics
Analyse data, prepare reports and make recommendations
Evaluate pay data and support major initiatives such as the Pay and Benefits Review
Proactively evaluate HR services and processes for efficiency and initiate change as appropriate
Negotiate external contracts with external vendors to provide employee services
HR Management
Support the Senior Leadership Team with staff appraisals and CPD
General
Appreciate and support the role of other professionals and establish constructive relationships and communicate with other organisations and individuals as required
Participate in training and development activities and programmes
Comply with, and assist with the development of policies and procedures, and report all concerns to an appropriate person, in respect of:
Child protection* Health, safety and security* Confidentiality, and* Data Protection* Perform any other duties as requested by the Bursar
