We are Martha Trust Hereford Ltd a registered charity and we provide lifelong care for individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities in our two, purpose built, state of the art, nursing homes in the beautiful county of Herefordshire.

Our staff need to be caring, patient, kind and keen to improve lives and we are looking for an experienced HR Manager to support the organization. The role is up to 37.5 hours Monday to Friday working in a rewarding but complex environment. Salary from 47,000.
Each home has 14 residents and a high staff to resident ratio. We have over 150 staff. Each site has a nurse manager and deputy. Every shift is run by a nurse with a care team to support. We also have a nurse training manager and our own therapy team consisting of Physiotherapist, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, music and aromatherapy specialists.

The successful candidate will deliver day to day HR tasks such as recruitment, staff queries, staff and management team support. You'll need experience in supporting varied casework and be able to deliver training and confidently coach and advise managers.

Key Responsibilities:
Proactively develop and manage professional and collaborative relationships with home managers, deputy home managers, practice development lead and colleagues.
Liaise with external HR legal advisors when required.
First point of contact for home managers and other middle managers, providing quick, accurate advice on the best method of dealing with specific employee issues. This is primarily related to absence, disciplinaries, grievances, underperformance and terms and conditions queries.
Leading on all HR issues making recommendations, coaching, giving support and advice to managers to ensure that situations are dealt with quickly and effectually with risk assessed recommendations, considering policy, best practice and employment law.
Work with managers, to ensure that their training and development needs in people management are identified, met and updated. This includes coaching, developing/delivering workshops, mentoring and sourcing external support when necessary.
Identify, analyse and provide feedback to develop the relevant changes to HR policy, practice and interventions that will benefit the organisation.
Ownership of HR activities across the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, maintaining HR records and systems, employee support on policy and advisory queries.
Providing a proactive approach to absence management through effective partnering with directors, managers and external Occupational Health to reduce long and short-term absence levels across the sites.
Ensuring, in partnership with the practice development lead that all new joiners are fully inducted with particular emphasis that all new starters are made aware of key HR policies, procedures and how these are implemented locally (e.g. absence reporting procedures).
Manage probation process in partnership with the practice development lead
Ensure that employees have an available source of advice and understanding.
Advising on and administering family leave, flexible working requests and attendance management issues.
Involvement in the payroll process
Job requirements:
Confidence in decision making and have strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
Reporting to the Trust Director.
Diplomacy, empathy, confidentiality and strong IT skills; resilient to stress and emotionally charged situations.
A proven track record of generalist HR experience with a strong knowledge of employee relations matters, including, legislation, guidance and best practice.
Proven ability to analyse complex problems using specialist knowledge to identify a range of options, considering risk and providing a reasoned recommendation for the solution.
CIPD Level 6 or equivalent experience.
