Description

About the Role

In order to cover a period of maternity leave, we are looking for a HR Manager (or possibly a Senior HR Advisor) to join our HR team for a period of approximately one year.

It's a broad role with plenty of responsibility. With support from an experienced HR Administrator (whom you will manage), you'll take responsibility for the day to day HR operations for the firm while also handling some HR casework and supporting with some projects.

Your regular role will include:

ensuring the smooth completion of all staff on-boarding, inductions and probation reviews and off-boarding managing parental leaves, flexible working applications and changes in contract terms dealing with employee queries and advising managers on policies and staffing queries tracking absence and dealing with more straightforward absence issues ensuring visa and sponsorship compliance, leading on operational / process tasks for the annual appraisals, pay and bonus reviews, promotions and more.

You'll also be closely involved in the annual graduate/early years recruitment processes and there are a host of project tasks to support on. You may also be asked to assist in some recruitment activities.

Inevitably there will be some other HR casework to handle around performance, absence etc., but the volumes are not high. As a small team, we have to be flexible to manage whatever comes our way, so this list is not exhaustive and it's likely that some unusual or unexpected tasks will fall your way.

The maternity leave isn't due to start until late January, but we would like someone to start as soon as possible, to ensure a thorough handover and to provide extra resource while we bed-in and develop our new HRIS.

The role is based in our Cheltenham office and you'll need to be able to attend it typically 2-3 times each week. You may also have to travel occasionally to our London office.

About you

You will have experience of supporting across the full employee life cycle and a solid knowledge of UK employment law. You will probably have at least level 5 CIPD accreditation.

Experience working in a law firm would be very welcome, but as a minimum you will have experience in a professional services or knowledge based industry working with a sophisticated internal client base who expect a high level of support and service.

Some experience of supervising junior HR team members would be helpful.

If you feel you can bring something special to this role, and you are available on no more than one month's notice, please get in touch.

Our Culture

Our culture is unique among law firms - both in what we expect from our people and the way we create value in the industries we serve. We empower our people, expect commitment and excellence, and celebrate when we achieve it.

Our Cheltenham office is conveniently situated close to the town centre and a reasonable distance from the train station. We have bright, modern spacious offices with an on-site subsidised cafe and parking. Through the year we arrange plenty of social events.

Our values are at the heart of everything that we do and define Wiggin as a workplace: being visionary, authentic, unified, responsible, and excellent across-the-board.

There isn't a typical Wiggin person. We aim to build teams that are diverse in thought, perspective, and experience to provide a more rounded service to our internal and external clients.
