THE ROLE



As HR Manager, you will lead and be responsible for the delivery of day-to-day HR at RoukenBio. You will be the go-to person for all operational HR matters, building systems and processes that reflect our culture and values. This is a senior generalist role, suited to someone who can support and challenge managers across the business, develop a capable HR team, and translate our people strategy into action.

You will oversee the full employee lifecycle, performance systems, employee relations, and application of policy. You'll contribute to engagement, wellbeing and development initiatives and play an active role in the Employee Forum and contribute to our wellbeing agenda. You will line manage a small but growing team, while collaborating closely with the CPO to build and sustain a high-performance, values-driven culture.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves to solve problems, improve systems, and foster a strong company culture, with the opportunity to take on more strategic responsibilities as the company evolves.

WHAT WE EXPECT YOU TO DO



Key responsibilities:



Operational HR Leadership:



Own the full HR delivery across the employee lifecycle.

Provide guidance and support on sensitive or complex people matters, such as employee relations, case management and performance concerns.

Administer payroll coordination, benefits enrolment, and compliance documentation.

Maintain HRIS and ensure data accuracy for reporting.

Performance, Development & Progression:



Lead the performance review process and support career development planning.

Work closely with the CPO to embed progression pathways and training opportunities.

People Team Management:



Line manage members of the HR team.

Create clear development plans, support performance and encourage growth.

Culture, Engagement & Wellbeing:



Be a lead presence in the Employee Forum.

Act as a mentor for the Mental Health First Aiders and champion wellbeing efforts.

Help drive internal communications and feedback systems.

Support DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) initiatives and training programs.

Systems & Governance:



Maintain and evolve policies to reflect legal requirements and cultural alignment.

Liaise with payroll and manage accurate people data and documentation.

Strategic Growth & Future Responsibilities

As the company scales, take on more strategic projects such as workforce planning, leadership development, etc.

Identify process improvements and implement scalable HR solutions.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR FROM YOU



We would like you to have the following:



5+ years of experience in a generalist HR role, including people management and ER casework.

CIPD Level 5 or 7 above (or equivalent qualification and experience).

Demonstrated ability to coach managers and influence at all levels.

Proven experience managing performance processes and embedding people systems.

Strong judgment, empathy, and alignment with values-led leadership.

Confident communicator, able to handle sensitive matters with professionalism and clarity.
