HR Manager

to join us in our purpose-built office near Chieveley, Newbury.

In this varied and rewarding role, you'll provide expert HR guidance to the directors and the wider management team to ensure a positive and engaging workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities



Provide HR guidance and support to the management team as required. Manage all employee relations issues that may arise. Manage the recruitment process including advertising, screening, interviewing, and onboarding of all candidates. Maintain all employee records via 'You Manage', the company's HR system. Track sickness absence in accordance with the Bradford Factor. Meet with staff for whom there are attendance concerns and manage in accordance with the company's absence management policy. Management of the disciplinary process, including investigations, preparation for hearings, and outcome letters. Liaise with the company's employment law advisors at Work Nest, as required, and ensure best practice by managers. Ensure the accuracy of monthly payroll data including sickness and absence data, overtime and contractual changes. Monitor probation/induction timelines working alongside department Managers. Work closely with the Directors to identify and plan staff deployment and strategically plan for future gaps in recruitment. Work closely with the management team to increase staff engagement and voice within the workforce. Work closely with the Finance Director in setting and reviewing pay structures, employee perks and benefits. Ensure policies are reviewed annually and kept up to date. Build strong working relationships across the business, delivering value-added services to management and employees Provide confidential support and guidance in any HR related matters to all employees, using an open-door policy.

Person Specification



Qualifications & Training

CIPD Level 5 qualification

or

equivalent experience in a generalist HR role. Evidence of continuous professional development in HR practices and employment law.
Experience

Proven experience in a generalist HR role in, ideally but not limited to, an operational environment such as grounds maintenance, construction, or facilities management. Demonstrable experience managing employee relations issues including disciplinary, grievance, and absence management. Experience in end-to-end recruitment and onboarding processes. Experience working with HR systems (e.g., You Manage or similar platforms). Experience in preparing payroll data.
Knowledge

Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practices. Familiarity with the Bradford Factor and absence management procedures. Knowledge of HR policy development and implementation. Understanding of employee engagement strategies and workforce planning.
Skills & Abilities

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels. Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in record-keeping and payroll data. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Confident in advising and coaching managers on HR matters. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and HR software.

Pay: 38,000.00-42,000.00 per year
