We are a family run, fast growing and dynamic company. We are one of the largest independent manufacturers and distributors of building materials across the UK. We have our own fleet of HGVs and smaller vehicles.

Tasks and duties will include:



Recruitment

: advertising roles, shortlisting applicants, organising interviews, writing job offer letters / contracts of employment and inducting new starters. Uploading their details into HR database and sending reference requests.

ER

: Conducting investigations and assisting with disciplinary hearings. Advising managers on current legislations and company's policies while promoting best practice and influencing decision making. Writing invite and outcome letters.

L&D

: keeping training records up to date and organising in-house and external training. Coaching and mentoring managers to further develop their people skills.

Employee engagement

: building strong relationships with all stakeholders, planning corporate events (Annual BBQ, Christmas parties, days out, charity events etc)

Absence management:

monitoring absence levels and reporting to relevant managers. Providing timely and accurate data for payroll processing and using data to identify trends and patterns. Carrying out return to work interviews and implementing reasonable adjustments. Conducting welfare meetings and referring employees for occupational health assessments

Other duties:

Managing personal files in accordance with GDPR regulations, ordering uniform and PPE, being a first point of contact for colleagues and managers on HR related queries, implementing new procedures, administrate HR system (People HR)

Requirements:



Ability to work under pressure and prioritise own work

Highly organised self-starter

Able to work independently and as a part of a team collaborating with other departments

Confident in having challenging conversations and influencing at senior level

Have an excellent written and verbal communication skills

Be competent in the use of Microsoft Office Pack (Work, Excel and Power Point)

Be able to adapt and embrace change

CIPD level 5 or above

Desirable:

Experience in H&S and event planning

Previous experience using Sage

Good understanding of SME environment

The ideal candidate will be versatile and able to adapt to continuously changing needs of fast-growing business. This is a varied and interesting role. You will report to the Joint MDs. With their guidance and support you will be expected to take the ownership of the HR department.

You must be a good team player as you will collaborate with other departments and get involved in many other aspects of the business (H&S, marketing, compliance etc). As the company grows fast, the recruitment will be always on your priority list along with change management. You will be expected to build strong relationships with all the stakeholders to maintain the "Family Feel" of the company.
