Job Description

The HR Manager role is a strategic and operational role in overseeing the organisation's human resources functions. This role is responsible for leading the HR team, ensuring the effective implementation of HR strategies, and aligning HR activities with the organisations goals. By adopting a modern approach to managing and motivating people for high performance, we can aim to develop a modern and productive workforce that is adaptable, responsive and dynamic, with innovation at its core.



This role will operate across both our golf and hotel businesses, liaising with the senior management team of both locations, as well as third party management companies and investors.



Key duties

of this role include, but are not limited to:

HR Policy, Process & Procedures:



oOwner of HR-specific and people-related Policies and Procedures across the organisation

oResponsible for ensuring that the Employee Handbook is maintained and updated to guarantee compliance with relevant legislation updates and that these amendments are appropriately communicated to the workforce.

oProvides support and advice to Line Managers and Supervisors in implementing these policies within their teams as well as the senior management teams for ensuring employment law and legal legislation is understood and applied.

oKey Sponsor of the Recruitment Policy. Ensuring we attract top talent and implement effective hiring strategies.

oResponsible for ensuring Induction and Onboarding process is fit for purpose and sets up new team members for success.

oDeveloping HR Strategies in line with company objectives.

oCollaborating with the executive and senior management team to forecast workforce needs.



Employee Relations & Engagement



oBuilding and maintaining a positive workplace culture and fostering employee engagement.

oManaging performance, conflict, grievance, and disciplinary procedures effectively and in compliance with company policies.

oActing as a trusted advisor to employees and managers on HR-related issues.



Data Protection & Compliance



oServe as the organisations lead for data protection management, ensuring full compliance with all applicable data protection laws and internal policies.

oOverseeing the development, implementation, and ongoing review of data protection practices across the business.

oAct as the primary point of contact for all data protection matters, including subject access requests, data breach reporting, privacy impact assessments, and employee training on data handling standards.

oWork closely with senior leadership to promote a culture of data privacy, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure that all personal data is processed lawfully, securely, and transparently.



Monitoring and Reporting



oResponsible for tracking and monitoring absence (planned and unplanned) across the organisation and ensuring the appropriate processes and policies are in place to manage this effectively.

oResponsible for liaising with Payroll to ensure that costs associated with Payroll are in line with headcount expectations across the organisation month on month

oProduce reports for the senior management team

oKey stakeholder in the implementation of the Bonus and Incentive Scheme

oOwner of the Appraisal Process

oSponsor of the Talent Programme

oSponsor of the Champion strategy



Continuous Professional Development



oResponsible for the development of the HR department's personal and professional development

oResponsible for mapping, tracking, budgeting and implementing (in conjunction with line managers) any and all Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities and resources across the organisation; tracking, monitoring measuring skills and capabilities across the organisation; enabling succession planning and business continuity as appropriate



Essential Skills and Behaviours:



oCIPD qualification, at appropriate level

oPrevious experience of managing HR processes and Policies in an organisation of more than 100 people.

oStrong experience in Employee Relations casework including dispute resolution, grievances, disciplinary, retirement etc.

oStrong Talent Management and Talent Development experience with demonstrable examples of how this has been implemented/ maintained.

oQuick and lateral thinker and confident decision maker

oRole models integrity, trust, respect and accountability in everything they do

oDynamic and adaptable, able to spot opportunities in challenges and to encourage solution-driven thinking

oExceptional communication skills, both written and verbal; strong presentation skills

oGoal-oriented and results-driven

oPositive, 'can-do' attitude and positive communication style



Desirable Skills and Behaviours:



oPrevious experience in managing/ conducting workplace investigations/ Employee Relations casework

oPrevious experience of coaching and mentoring individuals at Senior Management and Management level is highly desirable and highly advantageous
