VMS Ltd is seeking a HR Manager to actively lead and manage HR functions across our multi site organisation. We have a strong belief in developing our staff and creating a workforce with the skills needed to meet our client needs and have a team that are passionate in delivering this.
Your role will be to support the team in delivering this ethos by ensuring that all HR practices support business objectives, comply with ISO standards, and reflect industry best practice. You'll work proactively and collaborative with the management team to meet the fluid needs of the business.
You will have experience within a HR Role and a CIPD L5 qualification to support this along with a keen desire to maintain your CPD to ensure up to date knowledge in an ever changing world.
What you'll be doing:
drive effective recruitment and development of staff resource that meets the company's human resource requirements.
Staff resources will be monitored to ensure that performance meets the company requirements.
Actively manage the wellbeing of all staff.
To assist the training and development program to meet staff ambitions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
Develop, implement and review HR policies and procedures in line with ISO standards and legal requirements.
Support the Head of Recruitment, Training and Development in delivering strategic workforce initiatives.
Liaise with HR consultants to ensure compliance and best practice in HR matters.
Act as ICO Data Controller for employee data management.
Workforce Development & Coordination
Collaborate with the Training and Development Coordinator to align training plans with HR strategy.
Ensure competency frameworks are integrated into performance management and career development.
Monitor staff development opportunities and ensure equitable access across operational and office teams.
Identify and monitor underperformance and work collaboratively to develop proactive solutions.
Employee Relations & Engagement
Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary procedures, and grievance handling.
Promote a positive workplace culture through engagement initiatives related to VMS Core Values and feedback mechanisms.
Act as Mental Health Champion and oversee occupational health monitoring.
Recruitment & Onboarding
Lead recruitment, selection, onboarding, and offboarding processes.
To proactively interact with the Contract Management Team to understand company resource requirements both current and future.
Ensure all recruitment activities are compliant with employment law and ISO standards.
Coordinate with training staff to ensure smooth integration of new hires.
Compliance & Reporting
Ensure HR practices comply with employment law, ISO standards, and internal policies.
Lead and monitor staff wellbeing, including Occupational Health data and assess for impact on work fitness.
Monitor employee performance, attendance, and sick leave.
Prepare HR reports for senior management and contribute to audits and reviews.
Events & Culture
Develop, lead and support initiatives that promote diversity, inclusion, and wellbeing.
Skills & Experience
Minimum 5 years of HR management experience, ideally within training or operational environments.
CIPD L5 in People Management qualification or equivalent.
Strong knowledge of employment law, ISO standards, and HR best practice.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
Proficient in HR systems and Microsoft Office.
Desirable Attributes
Experience working in vegetation management, arboriculture, or similar sectors.
Familiarity with competency-based training and development frameworks.
