to provide professional HR support across two academic departments. The role covers HR advice, recruitment, immigration, payroll coordination and compliance, working closely with managers, staff and central HR teams.
The position is set to commence ASAP and will be full-time for an initial duration of 12 weeks with a pay rate of 16.92 per hour + holiday pay
Key Duties:
Advise managers and staff on HR policies and procedures, researching employment law where required
Provide proactive administrative support to the HR team, including note-taking at formal meetings and contributing to HR projects
Support recruitment processes end to end, including drafting adverts and job descriptions, grading submissions, shortlisting packs and applicant correspondence
Oversee visa administration, ensuring compliance with Home Office regulations and maintaining accurate records
Prepare contracts, appointment letters and visitor agreements, ensuring right-to-work, occupational health and ID checks are completed
Manage casual worker processes, payroll submissions and inductions
Coordinate inductions for new staff and mentor the HR Apprentice
Implement HR policies across the employee lifecycle and run reports from PeopleXD
Monitor probation, appraisal, absence, annual leave and fixed-term contract end dates
Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records in line with GDPR and information security requirements
Ensure payroll compliance, including monitoring working hours and correct funding sources
Work collaboratively with departmental colleagues and central HR teams to support smooth HR operations
Selection Criteria:
GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English
Experience working in an HR role or HR team
Up-to-date knowledge of employment law
Strong understanding of data protection and information security
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines with high accuracy
Strong customer service focus
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and HR systems
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Willingness to undertake ongoing training and professional development
