An excellent opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and busy HR team at Chelmsford City Council. This role is ideal for someone looking to build on existing experience or take the first step into a career in Human Resources.

The HR Support Officer role offers a varied and engaging workload, including managing pre-employment vetting for job applicants, alongside other compliance-related checks for new and existing staff, such as DBS and health surveillance, ensuring all are completed accurately, on time, and in line with established policies and procedures. The Support Officer also provides essential administrative support across the HR function, including processing staff changes, maintaining accurate records, and responding to HR-related queries and support requests from both employees and members of the public.

Previous experience in an administrative role involving a varied workload and competing priorities is essential, along with strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally. The successful candidate will also be required to use initiative and problem-solving skills to ensure the smooth and efficient running of day-to-day operations.

This is a full-time role (37 hours per week, Monday to Friday) with the option to work part of the week from home, in line with the Council's hybrid working policy (following successful completion of probation).

Interviews for this role will be held on 1st and 3rd July 2025.
