Purpose of Job

Reporting to the Group HSE & Compliance Manager, you will support the management team of the depot with the day to day running of the business through the implementation of the business' Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety Policies, maintaining standards of compliance.
You will undertake internal audits to a defined schedule, maintaining standards of Food Safety, Health and Safety, Environmental Safety and Quality, and will be the point of contact for compliance visits to the site.
You will maintain the site QMS standards to maintain accreditation to the BRCGS accreditation, supported by the Group HSE & Compliance Manager and wider Group Functions.
You will maintain a philosophy of continuous improvement within all departments, working with the various departments on site to develop and deliver a learning framework across the business to support the QMS.
You will act as the sites lead competent person for health and safety as defined by the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, and as the sites immediate point of contact for all Accreditation and Compliance Audits/Visits.
You may be required to travel occasionally travel to the Head Office located in Preston or to other sites within the group.
Main Duties
---------------
Assisting with implementation of new Quality Standards
Assisting with Third Party Audits
Assisting all site Quality related meetings i.e., Audit, Quality Management Review, HACCP review.
Completion of customer-issued Quality Questionnaires
Ensuring compliance with relevant environmental legislation where applicable.
Management of Pest Control and the hygiene on site for Quality purposes.
Management of instrument calibration (temperature measuring equipment).
Monitoring customer service complaints
Ensure a safe workplace environment across all sites without risk to health.
Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated, and recommended improvements implemented.
Coordinating and supporting QHSE meetings and ensure raised actions are reviewed, communicated, and effectively closed out.
Preparing QHSE documentation and statistical reports by collating data for analysis; summarise information and review trends.
Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and lone working procedures are managed, and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
Ensure all contractors RAMS, Insurance & H&S policies are up to date.
Assisting on health & safety inspections, audits, and checks.
Hold monthly depot meetings when required to report on relevant quality and health & safety matters.
Liaise with suppliers i.e., Insurers, solicitors etc
Overseeing that company QHSE systems and procedures are adhered to by all relevant stakeholders,
To ensure that the required positive culture and standards are achieved.

Promote and maintain a safe working environment by adhering to all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Take reasonable care of your own health and safety, as well as that of others who may be affected by your actions or omissions.
Promptly report any hazards, unsafe practices, incidents, or near misses to your line manager or the Health & Safety team.
Cooperate with management on all matters relating to health and safety, including attending mandatory training and following issued guidance or instructions.
Use equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) properly and as instructed to minimise risk.
Participate in risk assessments and contribute to the identification and control of workplace hazards.
Support a culture of continuous improvement in workplace safety by actively engaging in health and safety initiatives and suggestions.
Job Requirements

Essentials
Good knowledge of Microsoft programmes
To always operate to company rules and requirements.
Able to draft works instructions/Quality procedures.
Enthusiastic and approachable
Flexible in adapting to changing business needs and working additional hours if required.
Awareness of BRC standards, particularly the Storage & Distribution Standard
IOSH Qualification (H&S)
Trained Internal Auditor
Valid UK driving Licence
Desirable
Awareness of Quality Standards a distinct advantage
Awareness of Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.
NEBOSH certificate or equivalent
