Nestled within 80 acres of Suffolk countryside, Old Buckenham Hall (OBH) is one of East Anglia's leading co-educational preparatory schools and is home to around 200 boarding and day children aged 2 to 13. OBH has a proud 160-year history and children leave ready to thrive at some of the UK's most prestigious senior schools, taking with them not just a strong foundation of knowledge, but also the friendships and values that last a lifetime.
Building on that legacy, in January 2026, OBH will formally become part of the Rugby School Group. Best known for its historic senior school in Warwickshire, Rugby is one of the great names in British education, with a reputation for innovation, breadth, and the "Whole Person, Whole Point" ethos. This is an incredibly exciting time for OBH, the merger means the best of both worlds: the intimacy and character of a small country prep school, backed by the support, investment, and vision of a global education group.
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR Administrator to join the Rugby School Group, based at Old Buckenham Hall School in the Suffolk countryside. This is a standalone role based on site supporting the remote HR Function team to provide efficient and timely HR administrative support to the School. This role reports to the Rugby School Group HR Director.
The successful candidate will be required to provide an efficient and effective HR administration service, be highly numerate and hold an NVQ (or similar) in Business Administration. You will need to be demonstrably proficient in Microsoft Office, possess excellent communication skills, be able to work under pressure and deliver against tight deadlines. This is a diverse role where you will need excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, professional and able to work effectively with a range of people. They will need a basic level of knowledge in regard to employment legislation, polices and procedures and a good understanding of DBS and relevant Vetting procedures for employee recruitment within a School environment. No two days will be the same, however common activities will include supporting recruitment and selection, onboarding and induction, undertaking the vetting process, distribution of confidential correspondence and supporting the employee leaver process.
With a proven track record of relevant Business Administration and a particular interest in Human Resources this role will offer a diversity of work tasks, build relationships with employees across the School and act as the School's first point of contact with the HR service.
