We're looking for a senior HR leader to drive People Operations across all UK nurseries and corporate employees for The Learning Experience. This is a true HRBP-level role: strategic, highly operational, and deeply rooted in UK employment law, safeguarding, and EYFS/Ofsted expectations. If you thrive in a fast-moving, multi-site environment and want to build culture, capability, and compliance from the ground up, this role is for you.
What You'll Do
Lead all UK HR operations with full accountability for Employment Rights Act, ACAS guidance, Working Time Regulations, UK GDPR, safeguarding, and safe recruitment.
Manage payroll coordination and benefits (pension uploads, Titan/Aviva, SimplyHealth, PerkBox) and maintain accurate employee records.
Oversee statutory leave processes, maternity, shared parental, paternity, sick, and adoption, ensuring all documentation meets UK legal standards.
Lead ER casework end-to-end, including disciplinary, grievance, performance, and investigations across multiple nurseries.
Support Centre Directors with coaching, documentation, and consistent people practices.
Drive recruitment for all nursery roles, managing GoHire/Indeed activity, shortlisting, interviewing, offer letters, references, DBS checks, Right to Work, and onboarding documentation.
Build a zero-hour staffing pool to reduce agency cost and strengthen workforce planning.
Partner with Finance on staffing levels and cost controls.
Support salary benchmarking, statutory benefits guidance, and reward initiatives.
Oversee safeguarding and EYFS training, apprenticeships, and onboarding frameworks.
What You Bring
7+ years of progressive, UK-based HR leadership experience with deep knowledge of UK employment law and statutory compliance.
Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or a related field; CIPD Level 7 strongly preferred.
Background supporting multi-site or franchise-style organizations in regulated industries (education, childcare, healthcare, or retail strongly preferred).
Expert knowledge of UK employment law, ACAS processes, ER casework, Payroll and Benefits
Knowledge of safeguarding, EYFS, Ofsted, and DBS (a plus).
Strong communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to operate independently, manage multiple priorities, and build scalable processes.
* If you're a confident HRBP who loves impactful, hands-on work and wants to shape the future of People Operations in the UK, we'd love to hear from you.
