Brief Description
Are you passionate about making a difference in the workplace? Do you have a knack for aligning HR strategy with business goals? Are you a true HR generalist? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated generalist HR Business Partner to join our South Eastern Railway HR team.
In this pivotal role, you will play a key part in delivering our business-aligned People Plan and HR strategy.
You'll form part of a dedicated and collaborative HR team and through your expertise, you'll help provide essential coaching and support to our leadership teams, ensuring a positive and productive work environment for our Maintenance teams within the Kent Route.
Location: Based at London Blackfriars with occasional travel to Orpington, Herne Hill and Hither Green.
About the role (External)
Some of the areas you'll work on will be:

  • Strategic HR Implementation: Collaborate closely with business leaders to deliver the HR Strategy/People Plan, focusing on talent management, succession planning, and change management to drive high performance.
  • Relationship Building: Develop strong relationships with senior leadership and stakeholders, providing expert coaching, advice, and challenge on HR issues.
  • Operational Support: Offer operational HR support on organisational changes, senior appointments, salary and bonus management, and graduate/apprentice programmes.
  • People Solutions: Deliver client-responsive, cost-effective, and integrated people solutions that align with key business objectives.
  • Union Collaboration: Work with union representatives to support business solutions and ensure effective people management.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with HR colleagues across the business to address cross-business and geographical HR issues.
What do we need you to have?
  • Strong business/commercial acumen and understanding of business needs.
  • Significant experience in Employee Relations (ER).
  • Proven experience in partnering with senior managers to improve people management.
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing best practice HR solutions.
  • Experience in coaching and influencing senior managers.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to identify, develop, and retain talent.
  • CIPD qualified or equivalent experience demonstrating technical HR knowledge.
  • Proven track record in a complex working environment.
  • Experience in organisation change programmes
It would be great - but not essential - if you have the following:
MCIPD/post-graduate human resources qualification.
Understanding of project management principles and experience managing complex projects.
Experience working within a unionised environment (Industrial Relations)
