About Us

We are a new small private hospital catering for Plastic and Reconstructive surgery in the first instance. Our patients will be cared for, listened to, and supported throughout their journey. Most patients will generally be in good health and staying in hospital overnight following their treatment. Our staff work together to ensure each patient experiences truly excellent care from their initial consultation until discharge. Job Purpose

Your role will be the first point of contact for our staff on all matters associated with HR, recruitment and selection, payroll, overtime, workforce policy interpretation, probation and L&D. We are a small workforce, and this role is an exciting opportunity to work across a broad portfolio. You will report to an experienced HR/OD Director who is the General Manager. You will also work with the General Manager on a range of OD initiatives to create a culture of engagement.

Your Key Responsibilities

Support the General Manager to develop protocols and processes that drive the finest behaviours and create a culture of engagement and high performance. Writing job descriptions/person specifications, writing advertisements, setting up interviews, sitting on panels and taking lead responsibility for job offers through to contract. Undertaking all pre-employment checks. Onboarding new staff with a corporate induction. Maintaining the HR database (BrightHR), reporting on workforce MI to the Board. Preparing the payroll/overtime files for transfer to the external payroll providers. Responsibility for managing the system of issuing practising privileges for visiting medical staff (this is particular to a private hospital, and you will receive training). In partnership with BrightHR updating and publicising to our staff workforce policies according to best practice and changing legislation. Advise employees on the interpretation of workforce policies, compensation and benefits. Key internal lead for liaising with external recruitment agencies. Setting up a system to provide workforce management information (MI) to the General Manager and Board. Coordinate employee induction, performance and appraisal systems. Drive a culture of learning, development, practice review and improvement and one that ensures compliance against national professional standards for those working in healthcare.

Person Specification

Essential



To be successful in this role you will need:

Successful track record working in HR. A CIPD qualification or studying toward a CIPD qualification or be prepared to study. Ability to create and maintain harmonious and productive working relationships with colleagues. Able to produce accurate work to a high standard and work swiftly. Very good written skills including good English grammar. Very good verbal communication skills both face to face and over the telephone. Professional, courteous, and positive approach. Ambition, drive and commitment.

Desirable



It would be beneficial, but not essential if you also have:

Previous experience working within a private hospital setting. Previous experience working within a hospital setting. Experience in a start-up business.
