We are seeking a proactive and professional

Human Resources Officer

to support our growing organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering HR services that enable our teams to provide vital mental health support across North Kent.

Purpose of Post



The Human Resources Officer is responsible for core human resources functions, ensuring compliance with legislation and law, policy and procedures, while supporting the Human Resources Manager with North Kent Mind's Human Resources initiatives and internal processes. This role involves working closely with the Human Resources Team, at times representing the Human Resources Manager in their absence, ensuring recruitment and onboarding is completed in line with internal policy, contracts and employment documentation issued in a timely manner and the facilitation of effective collaboration between the Human Resources and Payroll team.

Structure of the Post



The Human Resources Officer will be supervised by the Human Resources Manager and accountable to the CEO and Board of Trustees.

The post holder will be based at the North Kent Mind Offices at 20 West Hill Dartford, which shall be considered the base throughout in terms of travel expenses claims. Travel between home and another working venue can only be claimed insofar as it is in excess of the distance between home and base. All time in travel between venues is counted as time worked. The post holder must be flexible to work throughout area covered by North Kent Mind, at our Chatham office when required and at times in venues out of area when attending meetings or events. They must be able to work in busy and open plan office environments (re our Chatham Office).

Contracted hours will be worked on an average weekly basis over a month rather than on a strict weekly basis. The post includes encompasses predominantly in-person working, set at a minimum level of 80% and remote working set at 20%, unless otherwise instructed by the CEO.

Please note this is a new role and some variables may be subject to change due to a growing and evolving organisation.

A: DUTIES OF THE POST: GENERAL



These duties apply to all North Kent Mind Staff, whichever service they work for:

1. To work within a framework which:

iv. Maintains good liaison with any other outside agencies as is necessary

v. Promotes good joint working, links and cross-referral with all North Kent Mind colleagues.

2. To participate in supervision as required

3. To attend training/meetings and some annual events as required

4. To undertake any other duties which the CEO or Board of Trustees may, from time to time, reasonably delegate or assign

B. DUTIES OF THE POSTS: SPECIFIC



Key Responsibilities:



1.

Human Resources Strategy & Policy

: assist Human Resources Manager in the development and implementation of Human Resources policies and strategies

2.

Recruitment & Onboarding

: oversee end-to-end recruitment and onboarding processes, training and induction programmes

3.

Employee Relations

: act as a point of contact for employee relations issues, such as disciplinaries, performance reviews and mediations and to record minutes from such processes as required

Performance Management

: ensure annual appraisals and supervisions are completed by management in a timely manner and that these are accurately recorded and reported against as required

Training & Development

: develop and coordinate central staff training register for the organisation, monitor effectiveness of training initiatives, identify training needs and support in the organisation of North Kent Mind's 3 day staff training programmes

Human Resources Administration

: support HR Administrators in maintaining accurate employee and volunteer records, issuing key HR documentation (such as contracts, offer letters), responding to/resolving queries in relation to benefits and entitlements (e.g. annual leave) and general HR, volunteer and recruitment enquiries

Compliance & Risk Management

: carry out staff risk assessments (such as occupational health and maternity risk assessments), Access to Work applications and census data submissions as required. Check and validate candidate/potential new starter qualifications.

Payroll Collaboration:

oversee and facilitate collaboration between Human Resources and Payroll to ensure effective communication and coordination for all staff changes (joiners, leavers, contract amendments etc)

General

support for the Human Resources manager with day to day operations, at times covering or representing them in their absence.

Pay: 26,327.22-30,328.68 per year
