Working from home, the successful candidate must possess demonstrable experience and technical expertise from within the HV power, utilities and / or critical national electrical infrastructure sectors.

Overview

Due to continued expansion and the commitment to sustained and profitable growth, our client now wishes to appoint a highly motivated and industry experienced HV Electrical Estimator for their UK wide HV power business. Reporting to the main board of Directors, the main purpose of this role will be to take responsibility for managing the development and production of highly competitive tenders and estimates for multiple or singular projects, ensuring maximum opportunity and minimum risk, and that clients and partners receive a high-quality service on time and to challenging budget requirements. The successful candidate will also contribute to all major high voltage preconstruction activities, ensuring successful project acquisition and timely handover to operations. This role allows you the opportunity to work with high profile clients, and make it your own, as you will be involved in the early development stage of projects.

The Role

  • Develop accurate estimates and manage bids for design and build projects, including large and more complex major schemes, ensuring that all client requirements and technical issues are fully considered
  • Hold responsibility for option appraisals and identifying and applying alternative solutions to enhance bid profitability and the delivery of cost \xe2\x80\x93 value engineering
Prioritise and manage your own workload, maintain accurate records of tenders submitted, whilst interfacing with the Head of Estimating and the Work Winning, Procurement, Operations teams * Ensure all tenders are completed with the objective of ensuring accuracy, best value and competitiveness of estimate and accommodation of the supply chain critical path
  • Providing accurate take offs and maintaining a high level of competency when preparing prime cost estimates.
  • Developing Value Engineering Proposals and providing innovation where applicable.
  • Competently using Trimble Contract Master for preparing estimates.
  • Managing client and key stakeholder requests in a professional and timely manner.
The Person
  • We are looking for you to bring your ability to prepare Schedule of Rates, "take off" quantities from drawings or bill of quantities, and have previous experience within an HV environment
Possess strong commercial and business awareness to enable you to identify and recommend appropriate bid proposals that meet client needs * Highly motivated and accurate, as attention to detail is vital, as is excellent Maths and IT skills

Offer a proven track record of securing works within the HV marketplace, possessing a technical knowledge and covering a broad scope of works covering any of the below: * Substations works (DNO & Private) and associated equipment (switchgear, cabling, earthing works, new and replacement transformers, protection and control)
  • HV installations ranging from 11kV - 132kV
  • HV and windfarm Infrastructure upgrades and new installations
  • HV Cable installation and jointing works
  • Civils works (trenching, backfilling, plant and equipment requirements for projects)
  • HV Testing & Commissioning
  • Connection of generating equipment
  • CP, IDNO, BESS or Solar experience
  • Ideally possess design and build capability with the ability to evaluate design scope gaps on tenders
