An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Brampton/Ely based Hydrometry & Telemetry Team dealing with data analysis for Area Wide Hydrometry.



East Anglia area has a short-term opportunity to be part of the team delivering on our flow derivation effort. Working across the area and with three other team members working in this area, you will be involved in sourcing various data and information and liaising with colleagues and customers to ensure we can return accurate and considered proposals for consideration.



Hydrometry is a truly diverse discipline measuring all elements of the water cycle, offering a great insight into how we capture this data and provide the information to our colleagues, customers, stakeholders and partners.



In the East Anglia Area we have two teams and this role will support both the East and West, that operate across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex.

The team
The Hydrometry & Telemetry Team, sits within the Monitoring Department in Local Operations in the East Anglia Area.



We manage the Environment Agency's field telemetry equipment and hydrometric network. Our core responsibility is to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the data we collect. This data underpins critical statutory functions, including flood forecasting and water resource management.



Our goal is to deliver accurate, timely information that meets the needs of our customers.
Experience/skills required
Essential:

Experience of Microsoft suite, in particular Excel, Experience in Hydrometric Practice Knowledge and use of Wiski


It would be helpful, but not essential, if you had:

Experience of Power Bi and Sharepoint Experience of Biber and Sked


Everyone starting in a new role will be welcomed into the team and given all the training and support needed from colleagues.



As part of your comprehensive induction, you will be provided with all the equipment required for your role.



While a driving licence is required, eligibility for lease cars is made based on the role, and there is no lease car provision for this position. Internal candidates ensure you check the lease car policy and consider its impact before applying.

Base location will be Brampton, Ely, Norwich and Ipswich, working from home depending on business need. Some travel will be required for meetings and training, therefore a full UK driving license is required for this post.
