Role Overview

The ICT Essential Skills Tutor will plan, deliver and assess ICT Essential Skills programmes (Entry Level / Level 1 / Level 2) in line with OCN NI / CCEA frameworks. The role includes supporting learners with varied abilities, providing differentiated teaching, and ensuring strong progression and achievement results.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver high-quality ICT Essential Skills lessons. Create engaging lesson resources aligned with qualification specifications. Assess learner work and provide constructive feedback. Track learner progress, complete required documentation and maintain records. Prepare learners for assessments and manage controlled assessment requirements. Work collaboratively with centre staff to ensure a supportive learning environment. Communicate professionally with learners, parents, employers and external partners as required. Contribute to continuous improvement and the development of teaching materials.

Essential Criteria

Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. B.Ed, PGCE, or equivalent). Experience delivering ICT Essential Skills at Entry Level / Level 1 / Level 2. Strong digital skills with ability to teach Microsoft Office, file management, internet safety, email, and problem-solving using ICT. Ability to motivate learners and differentiate instruction to meet individual needs. Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Desirable Criteria

Experience delivering OCN NI Essential Skills or similar awarding bodies. Experience supporting learners with additional needs.
