Key Purpose of Job
To provide direct support and advocacy to South Asian women victims/survivors of domestic abuse with immigration issues including no recourse to public funds.
The role
To provide individual needs-led information, safety planning, support and advocacy (including sign-posting) for women with no recourse to public funds (NRPF) who disclose their past or current experiences of abuse and who require access to public services.
To help establish their immigration history and status.
To assist them to gather evidence in support of their immigration applications.
To receive referrals and work in partnership with Birmingham NRPF Women's Support Network partners to meet individual needs.
To support women to make applications for asylum/LTR/DDV/Indefinite leave to remain as appropriate, and to refer clients to new legal representatives and/or signpost them to other services or agencies where necessary.
To develop professional relationships and referral links with Birmingham NRPF Women's Support Network.
To advise on or make referrals to other services where appropriate, such as NHS or specialist accommodation.
To assist and support women to attend appointments to meet their individual needs.
To develop knowledge, confidence and awareness of rights and routes to support for women with NRPF with internal and external partners and agencies.
To help with campaigning on NRPF issues.
To maintain up to date and accurate records on each case, and to support project monitoring and evaluation and other initiatives or needs, e.g. financial monitoring and research.
To carry out administrative tasks (e.g. word-processing, recording information onto database, filing etc.) in support of own work and the team as necessary.
