This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route however sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds (25000), and any role-specific criteria.



An exciting new position has arisen for an advanced clinical practitioner (ACP) role in our new onco-toxicity and immunotherapy (OTIS) service, that sits within our acute oncology nursing team.



The ACP role will work to help improve efficiency in the admission pathways for all acute oncology presentations by developing new pathways with the same day emergency care (SDEC) teams. The aim is to help to reduce patients attending the emergency department, to develop ambulatory pathways for patients exhibiting toxicities on immunotherapy, in order to prevent admission to hospital. The role will include service development, research, audit and education. The ACP will demonstrate in-depth knowledge and competence in all aspects of IO treatments and their side effects that supports management of patients on immunotherapy with cancer. The post-holder will be expected to review all acute oncology SDEC admissions.



Explore and initiate innovative ways of collaborating to continuously improve the care of emergency cancer patients that attend hospitals.



Actively participate with the multi-disciplinary team, discussion and guidance meetings, and with patients and carers to develop the service.



To support practice and in-business continuity work at an advanced, highly specialist level demonstrating in-depth knowledge and competence in all aspects of cancer and encompassing advanced assessment and clinical management skills that are evidence based.



Demonstrate high levels of interpersonal and specialist technical skills in managing teams and collaborating with other ACPs when caring for patients with IO/AO needs.



Discuss and reflect on complex case management.



To use highly developed and specialist knowledge to advise other staff on the investigations and treatment required by cancer patients during their emergency admission.



To use advanced communication skills in the management of IO/AO team to support the team to manage delivering complex information to patient/carers that facilitate their understanding to assist them in decision making processes.



Collaborate with nurses and AHPs in general ward areas supporting their educational needs in developing their skills in caring for patients with acute oncology needs, particularly when communicating sensitive issues.

To function as a change agent particularly with regard to the introduction of evidence-based practice where appropriate, network and national policy.



To be available to all members of the multi-disciplinary team to provide expert advice on all matters pertaining to acute oncology issues and presentations.



To lead and support all professionals in co-ordinating the patient's journey and ensure high standards of written and verbal advice is available to patients, relatives, carers, the MDT, and external stakeholders.



To provide support and leadership for the Acute Oncology CNS teams across all four sites and to be responsible for, assist in and record their development and training.



Translates national and local policies and initiatives that impact on the patients and healthcare workers and implements these into local specialist practice.



Develops and implements changes to policies and guidelines in specialist field of practice.



Work collaboratively with Cancer Networks in moving the complex acute oncology agenda forward.



Initiate and lead the audit agenda in IO/AO.



Lead the development of robust data collection.



The Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner post is a developmental role, progressing to a qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioner upon successful completion of the accredited MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice, demonstration of competence across all four pillars of advanced practice, and attainment of the required level of autonomous clinical decision-making to meet the higher pay grade.
