Independent Domestic Violence Advisor





Whilst the post is temporary until 31st March 2026, pending budget review, a further contract period following this date may be available.



The RCT Safety Unit (Oasis Centre) forms an integral part of the Rhondda Cynon Taf Community Safety Department. The Unit provides a pro-active service to victims of domestic abuse to keep them and their children safe.



We have an exciting opportunity for an

Independent

Domestic Violence Advisor

who is required to provide a pro-active service to victims subject to domestic abuse from intimate partner/ex-partners and/or family members.



Your key duties will be to provide support and advocacy to victims of domestic abuse, working with them to create effective safety plans and reduce domestic abuse risk. You will work pro-actively with a wide range of other key safeguarding partners including the Cwm Taf MARAC, health-care professionals, South Wales Police, social care services, the Probation Service and Alcohol and Substance Misuse services as well as other support agencies such as the DWP, Citizen's Advice Bureau (financial support), Family Law services and employment services to provide an holistic support service to your clients.



A key requirement of the role will also be to raise the profile of domestic abuse within local communities, promoting prevention and early intervention services and encouraging victims to take up offers of support.



You should have experience of working with high-level need clients in a front-facing role, an understanding of relevant safeguarding procedures including Child Protection legislation, dynamic risk assessment, experience of partnership working and ideally, experience of working with those affected by domestic abuse.
