The Rowan Organisation is a registered charity that provides support services which enable people to maximise their opportunities for independent living using monies provided through relevant funding streams and Direct Payments Support Scheme in their region.

The role of the Independent Living Adviser in Conwy is to facilitate a community-based service which provides individuals with information and support who wish to employ a personal assistant or carer through Direct Payments, covering job descriptions, recruitment, DBS applications, contracts of employment and Induction of the PA's and their on-going supervision and management.

In carrying out their duties the Independent Living Adviser should be mindful of the need to maximise the opportunity for self-determination and to work in a way which empowers people to take and maintain control of their own lives.

The Independent Living Adviser should also work in a way which recognises the individual's cultural needs and ensures adherence to the Organisation's Equal Opportunities Policy.

Full training for the role will be provided, persons with transferable skill sets, community based, or public facing roles are encouraged to apply. This a rewarding role that makes a real difference to people's lives.

This is a community-based position so access to transport and county wide travel will be essential.

Experience of working in a public facing role and understanding vulnerable people's issues is helpful, however most important is the ability to listen well and to provide information in a calm and supportive way in order to empower and encourage people to have more independence, choice and control over their lives through Direct Payments.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential.
