Role Summary:
Advanced Social Care Services are seeking an experienced and compassionate
Speech and Language Therapist
with a strong background in neurodevelopmental conditions to support our NHS-commissioned
Autism and ADHD assessment service
for individuals aged 16 and over. In this independent role, you will contribute to multidisciplinary diagnostic assessments by offering expert insight into communication, language, social interaction, and pragmatic functioning--critical domains in Autism and ADHD diagnosis and support.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct in-depth communication and language assessments to support diagnostic formulations for
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
and
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
.
Evaluate pragmatic language use, social communication, receptive and expressive language abilities, and any language-processing difficulties.
Provide specialist input during multidisciplinary diagnostic team meetings, contributing to comprehensive, person-centred formulations.
Deliver post-diagnostic recommendations tailored to individuals' communication profiles, including strategies for self-advocacy, independence, and access to services.
Engage with clients, families, and other professionals to gather comprehensive developmental, social, and communication histories.
Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with
HCPC
,
RCSLT
, and
NHS
standards.
Work within a remote/hybrid team and comply with clinical governance protocols and national guidelines such as
NICE
.
Essential Criteria:
HCPC-registered Speech and Language Therapist
.
Member of RCSLT
(Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists).
Demonstrable experience working with
neurodiverse individuals
, particularly those with
ASD
and/or
ADHD
.
Specialist knowledge of communication profiles and social interaction difficulties associated with autism and co-occurring conditions.
Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
Familiarity with evidence-based tools and assessments for communication and pragmatic language (e.g., CCC-2, CELF-5, functional communication measures).
Confidence working independently and collaboratively within a
multidisciplinary diagnostic framework
.
Experience contributing to or working within
NHS diagnostic pathways
is highly
Qualifications and Experience:
A BSc (Hons) or MSc in Speech and Language Therapy from a UK university or an equivalent overseas qualification recognised in the UK.
Clinical experience supporting individuals with suspected or confirmed:
o
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
o
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Competence in assessing:
o Receptive and expressive language
o Pragmatic and social communication
o Non-verbal and augmentative communication methods
Familiarity with:
o
NICE Guidelines
for Autism and ADHD
o
RCSLT position papers
and guidance on neurodiversity
o
Relevant legislation
, including the
Equality Act 2010

Care Act 2014
