About The Role





We've a new opportunity for an Indirect Tax Assistant. The post is part of a friendly Finance Team that supports all our regions Nationwide.



Aim of the role





The Indirect Tax Assistant supports the Tax manager within the Group Finance function by ensuring accurate and timely tax compliance, reporting, and analysis across the business. This role plays a key part in managing tax risks, supporting audits, and ensuring tax compliance.


Duties include:


VAT




Prepare accurate VAT returns for all registered entities within statutory deadlines Review invoices to ensure correct VAT treatment Perform payment run reviews to confirm compliance with VAT legislation Maintain and organise land-related documentation for VAT purposes Complete VAT reclaims for mileage payments in accordance with VAT reclaim rules

Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)


Review payment runs and manual payments for CIS compliance Prepare CIS returns in accordance with statutory deadlines Handle ad-hoc CIS queries and provide guidance to internal stakeholders

Tax Accounting & Reconciliations


Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for tax-related accounts Conduct sampling of expense claims to ensure compliance with internal policies

PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA)


Assist with preparations for annual PSA assessments and submissions Liaise with HR and payroll teams to gather necessary data for PSA reporting

Tax Risk Management


Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the business Support the Tax Manager in providing technical tax advice on business projects and transactions

Process Improvement & Collaboration


Identify opportunities to streamline tax processes and enhance efficiency Collaborate with finance,HR, and operational teams to ensure tax compliance across the Group Liaise with external advisors and auditors as required

About You




Strong knowledge of CIS and VAT principles and relevant legislation. Analytical mindset with attention to detail. Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with Coins ERP system Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience in the construction industry essential.
