Job Title: Individual Giving Officer
Department: Income Generation
Reports To: Individual Giving Manager
Accountable To: Head of Fundraising
Hours: The role is 37.5 hours per week - it will involve some evening and weekend work
Location: Hybrid remote and at the hospice, Aylesford, Maidstone (minimum of 3 days per week in the office)
Heart of Kent Hospice is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Individual Giving Officer to support the delivery of our fundraising campaigns and ensure our donors receive the best possible experience.
Main duties of the job
Individual Giving is a vital and growing area of fundraising income for the hospice. This role supports all Individual Giving income streams, including In Memory, Regular Giving and Lottery. You will play a key part in delivering compassionate and effective supporter care, ensuring donors feel valued and appreciated. The role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and strong organisational abilities to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. You will be empathetic and sensitive in your interactions, reflecting the hospices values in all correspondence and stewardship activities.

Main Responsibilities:
Supporter Care & Stewardship
Send timely and sensitive acknowledgements and thank-you communications to donors.
To help and to support in the development of and to implement a donor recognition program, including thank-you letters and regular updates on the impact of their contributions.
Work with the IG Manager and wider Fundraising team to ensure donors feel valued and appreciated, fostering long-term relationships.
Provide personalised support to individual donors, addressing inquiries and providing information on giving options.
Support the planning and execution of fundraising events and activities aimed at individual donors.
Creation and delivery of our in-memory stewardship journey, including donors who set up tribute pages offering personalised support and updates.
Operational responsibilities
Assist in the development and execution of individual giving campaigns.
Coordinate lottery draws, including communication with winners and processing prize distributions.
Monitor and report on lottery performance, providing insights to improve effectiveness.
Work closely with the Finance team to reconcile lottery income and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Campaign support
Support the IG Manager in the set up and operational management of face-to-face fundraising campaigns. Including invoice processing, complaint handling, site management and training for third party fundraising teams.
Support with the planning and implementation of marketing campaigns across a range of channels including direct mail, email, social, display advertising and newsletters.
Support post-campaign analysis to identify learnings and improvements for future activity
Compliance & Governance
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation (e.g. Charity Act 2011, GDPR, probate law).
Monitor and mitigate risks, working with legal or governance leads when necessary.
Support the administration of the hospice lottery, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Ensure all Individual Giving activities comply with Fundraising Regulator guidance and hospice policies.
Team responsibilities
Collaborate with clinical teams or service leads to gather stories and impact updates for donor communications.
Understand and keep up to date on all fundraising regulations and best practices.
Explore and propose opportunities for the hospice to grow its brand awareness, as well as presence in the community.
Support the broader Fundraising team with input into key activities and new portfolio development such as fundraising campaigns to maximise income.
