Sheffield City Council Community Youth Services are made up of several youth engagement teams that seek to support young people in their community. These teams include our Information Advice and Guidance team or IAG.
Our IAG team is committed to providing consistent and professional Information, Advice and Guidance support to enable our young residents to thrive.
Within our IAG team, we currently have a 22.2 hours per week vacancy for an IAG qualified careers adviser minimum level 4. This is an exciting and challenging role which includes working with young people who have an Educational Health and Care Plan or are in a specialist setting and their parents or carers.
The post holder will deliver careers guidance interviews with students in an education setting and attend annual reviews. You will also support students who are Not in Education, Employment or Training who may have an Educational Health Care Plan.
We are looking for someone who has experience of delivering careers guidance interviews in an education setting and it would be highly desirable if they have some experience of delivering careers guidance for young people who have an Educational Health Care Plan. The key focus of the role is to ensure that young people make a successful transition into post 16 education, training, or employment.
The role may involve one to one work, group work, home visits, community based delivery, telephone follow up and attendance at multi agency meetings.
Working alongside colleagues within the councils wider Community Youth Service, advisers will have a caseload of young people who they will support to set and achieve personal goals. Key elements of this role will be to identify and remove barriers to engagement in post 16 learning and to provide advice and guidance around the range of options available.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide pay slip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
