Job Description

West Devon Community and Voluntary Services (WDCVS) is a charity dedicated to helping individuals, not-for-profit groups and community enterprises bring about positive change and building stronger communities.

We are looking for a motivated individual with a passion for getting the message across about our work in communities, to join our small team in the role of Information and Communications Co-Ordinator.

This is a varied role that supports the work and services across the CVS. You will be responsible for the messaging about and promotion of our work. This will be through our social media presence, our website, other on-line platforms and printed materials. You will ensure our work is promoted effectively and in an engaging manner. You will work closely with other CVS staff to achieve this.

The role is based with the rest of the team, once a week, alternating in Tavistock (Thursday) and Okehampton (Wednesday). The remaining hours may be worked from home.

Key Outcomes



WDCVS presence, brand and visibility is positively improved with stakeholders, funders and members of the public. We have a visible, recognised social media presence. Our website is maintained and up-to-date. Leaflets and promotional materials are consistent and recognisable as WDCVS. Our responsibilities to the Devon Voluntary Action (DeVA) public facing platform (Devon Connect) are carried out to a high standard and in line with the agreed principles between all platform partners. Any events we organise or participate in are well promoted and reported. CVS management have an overview of how activities are supporting our Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Responsibilities



Managing our social media presence on platforms including Facebook and making recommendations on way to enhance our visibility. Creating and reviewing content, creating/managing schedules, contact, shares and ensuring we are extending our reach. Writing and updating our website content to ensure information is up to date, relevant and well presented. Liaising with projects to ensure messaging, communications and publicity materials are consistent and in line with differing project guidelines. Producing regular on-line newsletters and bulletins with input from appropriate CVS staff. Creating and maintaining activity listings (In Touch Tavi and Oke) for West Devon in printed form and online. Acting as the administrator/moderator for the Devon Connect platform including: Approving volunteer opportunities and listings. Fulfilling our local obligations on campaigns as requested by DeVA and in partnership with CORE CVS staff. Promoting the use of the platform and carrying out training for West Devon users and internal CVS staff. Other functions as agreed with DeVA. Attending meetings of all Devon Connect partners and reporting back. Planning and promoting community events. Creating and maintaining our WDCVS promotional materials for use at events. Working with Project Leads/CO/VCSE Support manager to produce professional and engaging reports for funders and for governance purposes. Representing WDCVS at meetings as required by the CO (currently Healthy Ageing, Loneliness and Isolation, Unpaid Carers, Multi-Disciplinary Teams).

Skills and Experience



Excellent knowledge and experience of using social media platforms for promotion. Experience of website editing using WordPress. Experience of using publishing software such as Canva, creating key messages and materials. High level of experience using Microsoft 365, Teams and Outlook. Great communications and teamwork skills. Used to managing your own time and juggling different tasks. Willingness to learn and adapt around innovative ideas.

WDCVS Team Responsibilities



The role will work closely with the Administrative and Finance role. Working with the CO and Administrative, Finance Coordinator and Delivery Partners to manage the REDRESS project. To be aware of and follow policies and procedures, with particular attention to safeguarding, health and safety, and equality and diversity. Support fundraising and income generation. You are also required to undertake any other duties within your capabilities as requested.
