Role Overview

We are looking for a dynamic, proactive, and media-savvy In-House PR Specialist to lead our public relations strategy. You will be responsible for shaping and sharing our story with the world--balancing education, brand awareness, and sensitivity within a highly regulated industry. This is a unique opportunity to influence the narrative around medical cannabis and build trust with key stakeholders including patients, regulators, healthcare professionals, and the general public.

Key Responsibilities

Media Relations & Outreach

Develop and maintain strong relationships with mainstream media (print and broadcast), health and wellness publications and science and cannabis. Proactively pitch stories, thought leadership, and expert commentary to secure earned media coverage. Serve as a company spokesperson where appropriate and manage media inquiries.

Strategic Communications

Craft compelling press releases, media kits, and editorial content aligned with company milestones, research breakthroughs, and public education goals Collaborate closely with regulatory and legal teams to ensure all public messaging complies with relevant medical cannabis advertising laws.

Crisis & Issues Management

Anticipate and manage potential PR risks with clear, compliant communication strategies. Provide rapid response support in the event of media scrutiny or industry controversy.

Stakeholder Engagement

Support internal and external communications for partnerships, clinical collaborations, and community outreach. Assist with event PR for conferences, roundtables, webinars, and launches.

Monitoring & Reporting

Track PR KPIs to assess impact and inform strategy. Regularly brief leadership on communication opportunities and challenges.

Requirements

3-5 years' experience in PR, journalism, communications, or a related field. Experience in a regulated or scientific sector--healthcare, pharma, biotech, or cannabis is highly desirable. Strong media contacts across health and lifestyle media (bonus: cannabis trade publications). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of compliance and regulatory considerations in healthcare PR. Confident, curious, and strategic with strong editorial judgement. Comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving policy environment.

Pay: Up to 60,000.00 per year
