Inorganic Chemist

Location: Stanley, County Durham

Salary: \xc2\xa325-32,000 + overtime + benefits + great career progression

We are now looking for these talented individuals to join their team as an Organic Chemist on a permanent contract.

With experience in one or more of the following: Discrete Analysers, Skalar Combustion Flow or Combustion instruments, ICP-OES or ICP-MS. The successful candidate will deliver laboratory services through efficient work planning and the use of analytical instrumentation and techniques.

The Role:

Organisation

  • Plan and monitor the daily workload in the laboratory section.
  • Communicate with other departments.
  • Be a role model and set an example to junior staff.
  • Ensure good housekeeping.
  • Maintain stock levels and place orders accordingly.
Analysis
  • Undertake preparation and analysis.
  • Update worklists accordingly
Training & development
  • Train Chemists and Technicians
  • Ensure staff training records are maintained.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in analysis.
  • Undertake method development.
Quality
  • Carry out daily checks when required.
  • Undertake NWR investigations.
  • Co-ordinate NWR investigations within laboratory section
Equipment
  • Equipment maintenance
  • Equipment calibration and servicing
Quality Control
  • Ensure internal AQC is adequate.
  • Maintain AQC charts.
  • Co-ordinate analysis of PT samples within laboratory section
  • Preparation and analysis of PT samples
  • Co-ordinate and carry out PT failure reports within laboratory section.
  • Be a role model and set an example to junior staff & supervise technicians.
The person:
  • Degree qualified in Chemistry, or equivalent
  • Ability to work independently using good judgement, and as a team player.
  • Resourceful, reliable and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Exceptional organisational skills with a high consideration to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal and listening.
  • Adept at time management and able to work with deadlines.
  • Flexible, accommodating and positive approach.
  • Use initiative to achieve results and take ownership of workload.
  • Demonstrate resilience under pressure.
