This role is located in the United Kingdom at our business unit, Chemtech Environmental, within the Cawood Scientific Environment Division. Chemtech Environmental, part of Cawood Scientific, is one of the UK's largest independent chemical analysis testing labs. Based in County Durham, we are able to service the testing needs of customers from all over the UK and Ireland. We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Coordinator to join our Inorganics Department. The successful candidate will have a strong background in analytical chemistry and be confident with techniques such as ICP-MS or ICP-OES.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead, organise and develop a busy laboratory section while ensuring high-quality results and staff development.
Key Responsibilities
OrganisationPlan and monitor the daily workload of the laboratory section Communicate effectively with other departments Be a role model to junior staff and lead by example Supervise Senior Chemists, Chemists and Technicians, including day-to-day HR issues Maintain good housekeeping standards Manage stock levels, liaise with suppliers and place orders

AnalysisUndertake sample preparation and analysis Report results using LIMS software

Training & DevelopmentDevelop and implement training plans for Chemists and Technicians Coordinate and maintain training records Deliver training to staff Identify and implement opportunities for improvement in analysis and undertake method development

QualityEnsure staff carry out daily checks; undertake checks yourself when required Lead and coordinate NWR (Non-Conformance/Work Request) investigations

EquipmentCarry out troubleshooting and routine maintenance of equipment Conduct equipment calibrations and ensure servicing schedules are met
