Job Purpose
This role will provide evaluation support to the place-based thematic leads for effectively monitored and evaluated programme delivery, to ensure our work delivers meaningful, measurable impact. They will also ensure findings are interpreted and learning is used for continuous improvement and in support of wider system change.
Key Responsibilities
Insight, Evaluation and Learning
Design an evaluation and learning framework for each place, aligned with Sport England's evaluation model
Advise the place-based thematic leads in designing and collecting the relevant information for testing assumptions and the maturity of the system e.g. creation of a place theory of change, maturity matrix use, ripple effect mapping
Lead on the evaluation and learning of any test & learn pilots
Use the Moving Communities Place platform to understand social value in each place
Participate in any cluster evaluation learning e.g. with regional Active Partnership place leads
Lead production of six-monthly insight briefs for each place to share learning and show progress against grant awards
Data analysis, evaluation and interpretation including use of youth and community voice to feed into decision making and allow real-time learning to be turned into action
Provide additional capacity to embed evaluation and learning across the system
Contribute to the learning culture of the organisation alongside colleagues working on other programmes

Knowledge and Experience
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables and formulae, for example) and other MS Office systems with an ability to work with different types and sizes of datasets and rapidly understand and use new tools as relevant.
Experience in evaluation and learning plans/processes including familiarity with Theory of Change, youth and community voice approaches and ways to co-design evaluation.
Experience in developing, managing and/or carrying out project evaluation.
Understanding the importance of MEL (monitoring, evaluation, and learning) in the wider context of organisational impact.
Qualifications and Training

Degree level education or equivalent in related field or qualified by experience.
Good standard of written and spoken English.
Confident in maths.
Training in approaches relevant to this role is desired, but not essential. Further training will be provided if relevant.
Additional information
Living Sport operates a hybrid work location policy. There is access to an office every day of the week, or staff can choose to work from home. We also encourage co-location with partners, to build more effective working relationships. There is an expectation that staff travel to the St Ives office at least twice a week including for any team and staff meetings and for other meetings as required.
There will sometimes be a need for travel around the partnership area of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough and wider which will necessitate the postholder having access to suitable transport. If driving oneself, a current valid driving licence and access to a vehicle available for work purposes with business cover insurance is required.
