Job Description

Do you have a technical inspection/surveying background and a passion for developing the skills and abilities within your team? This role is responsible for leading the operational performance of inspection activities in our residential properties, located in the Southeast with the majority in Bucks, Beds, Berks and Herts. Your remit will be to ensure that our housing stock is maintained, and its value maximised through effective surveying and maintenance practices. You will deploy specialist resources to ensure that inspections are carried out professionally in a timely, efficient and effective way, utilising your technical expertise and your people skills; providing necessary support and guidance to ensure that we are driving improvement and working efficiently.



The department's function is to carry out residential survey operations including, but are not limited to, General Condition, Structural Inspections, Stock Condition Surveys, Disrepair, EPC, Retrofit Assessment, Mutual Exchange, Home Improvements, Disabled Facilities Grants, Estate Improvements, Damp and Mould, Fire Risk Assessment repairs appraisal, Non-Structural, Latent Defects, Large or Complex Voids, Investment Works, and Post Inspections.



The work is of hybrid with a blend of office (minimum of 2 days p/w), around 20% on site and the remainder remote, you will oversee the workload and outputs of the team and assist with technical queries, encouraging the development of enhanced skills and knowledge.



You will need to be organised, disciplined and flexible with the ability to generate high-quality reports and records in timely manner. You liaise with loss adjusters, environmental health, housing colleagues, repairs operatives, and customer resolutions, managing and resolving issues to ensure that team deliverables are achieved. You will need to work collaboratively and to high standards with all key stakeholders.

This role may suit a Senior Surveyor/Inspector who may have mentored/ managed a small team and would like to develop their management skills further. Or perhaps someone who has worked at a more senior level who wants to utilise their considerable knowledge and skills and prefers a practical role with the team rather than the boardroom?







To be successful in this role you should have/be:



Substantial inspection / surveying experience Qualification of a HND in Building Construction

OR

degree in Building Surveying

OR

equivalent Team management experience

OR

aptitude for Strong problem-solving skills to maximise effectiveness in the role Ability to stay calm under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively Collaborative with the ability to communicate well across all levels and support colleagues Able to undertake inspections and report against HHSRS Practical understanding of asset management, property management, and repairs Excellent communication skills written and verbal Strong IT skills beyond basic computer literacy particularly with MS Office packages and able to write comprehensive reports Experience in housing field, preferably for a registered social landlord

Work pattern: Mon-Fri 37 hrs p/w: 9-5.30pm Mon-Thurs, 9-5pm Friday.
