We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven Instructor/Technician in Electrical to join our team here at Bournemouth and Poole College on a full time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of \xc2\xa321,276 - \xc2\xa329,375 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications).

About the role:

As the Instructor/Technician in Electrical you will undertake technician duties, generally in the Electrical workshops, stores and in other areas as directed, to assist lecturers and other instructors in the delivery and maintenance of training programmes.

Responsibilities as our Instructor/Technician in Electrical will include:
  • Instructor responsibilities in the practical workshops as required to give students a high quality learning experience that incorporates modern practice
  • Prepare and clear away materials, tools and equipment ensuring correct storage and inventory records
  • Inspect tools and equipment regularly for damage or wear and tear, order replacements and recycle redundant items in line with the college\xe2\x80\x99s recycling guidelines
  • Check levels of stock and work with the team to ensure good stock control at all times
  • Support the teaching team in demonstrating apparatus and equipment and assist in practical projects as directed
  • Support the teaching team in ensuing that apparatus and equipment are used in accordance with Health & Safety Regulations
  • Order materials as required whilst negotiating prices and discounts
  • Assist in the modernisation of workshops and facilities
As our Instructor/Technician in Electrical, you\xe2\x80\x99ll ideally have:
  • Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths
  • Trained First Aider \xe2\x80\x93 or willing to undertake training upon starting
  • Experience in Health & Safety
  • Experience in liaising with suppliers
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications
Desirable
  • Qualification in Electrical installation or similar trade
  • PASMA trained
  • Health and Safety qualification
  • Forklift license \xe2\x80\x93 or willing to undertake training
  • Work experience in an FE setting ie college or school
  • Workshop environment
  • Monitor and controlling spending on stock and materials
  • Working with student databases ie ProMonitor/ProSolution
  • Understanding of KCSIE and safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
