Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent and Fixed Term for up to 18 months
We are looking for a confident and professional Insurance and Claims Officer to join our Insurance Services team. Leicester City Council has a statutory duty to fulfil their legal and insurance related responsibilities, ensuring the right outcomes based on thorough investigations.
Working as part of a small, experienced team of officers, you'll work with the Principal Insurance & Claims Officer, to help to assess the council's insurance provisions on an ongoing basis and assisting with the main annual insurance renewal.
These are full-time roles working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday. We offer hybrid working however you'll be expected to work from our council offices at least 3 days a week. At times, you'll be required to conduct visit sites and attend meetings to progress and prioritise claims.
What you'll be doing
Day to day, you'll manage your own caseload of insurance claims and carry out desktop investigations ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Using your expertise, you'll recommend action on a wide range of personal injury insurance claims and liaise with council staff to advise on cases affecting them. You'll work with claimants and their representatives to come to a positive resolution. Supporting our employees, you'll advise on the protection afforded by the council's insurance arrangements and help them provide relevant evidence. You'll ensure insurance claims are accurately entered onto the database and carry out your investigations with relevant council departments before considering and detailing your response. You'll be proactive in following procedures to record information and fully investigate cases.
What you'll need
Progressing records, you'll use your knowledge of the insurance claims process to investigate any potential cases of fraud. Using sound judgement, you'll determine liability by reviewing cases considering the evidence provided. With confidence and with clarity, you'll be able to discuss and negotiate on claims. A team player with creative thinking, you'll use your professional expertise, to propose procedural changes that will lead to a reduction of incidents and make a team more efficient.
