Location: London, United Kingdom (Flexible hybrid working)
Employment Type: Permanent
Summary of the role:
We are seeking an experienced Consultant or Senior Consultant with a strong background in the Insurance sector and hands-on experience in Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A). The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to support clients through strategic integration and transformation programmes, particularly following mergers or acquisitions.
You will play a key role in guiding insurance clients through complex change - assessing integration readiness, developing roadmaps, aligning senior stakeholders, and ensuring smooth operational harmonisation. This is an opportunity to work with leading insurers and financial institutions, leveraging EXL's global expertise in data, AI, and digital transformation to deliver measurable impact.
As part of your duties, you will be responsible for:

  • Lead or support post-merger integration and transformation workstreams for insurance clients.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess integration readiness and create detailed implementation plans.
  • Conduct gap and synergy analyses across key business functions (underwriting, claims, finance, operations, risk, compliance).
  • Advise clients on target operating models, governance frameworks, and cultural alignment strategies post-acquisition.
  • Partner with C-suite executives to facilitate workshops, define integration objectives, and drive execution.
  • Monitor progress and risks, and provide clear reporting on milestones, dependencies, and mitigation strategies.
  • Support change management and communication initiatives to drive adoption of new processes and systems.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including proposals, client presentations, and thought leadership.
Qualifications and experience we consider to be essential for the role:
  • 5-8 years of consulting experience, preferably within a top-tier consulting or advisory firm.
  • Proven experience delivering pre- and post-merger integration projects, ideally within insurance or financial services.
  • Strong understanding of insurance operations (P&C, Specialty, or Reinsurance) and the associated regulatory landscape.
  • Experience managing due diligence, synergy assessment, or integration planning phases of M&A deals.
  • Familiarity with digital and data-driven transformation initiatives within insurance.
  • Exceptional analytical, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, PMP, or Prince2 preferred).
Skills and Personal attributes we would like to have:
  • M&A integration expertise - strategy, planning, and execution.
  • Strong financial and operational acumen to evaluate deal value drivers.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management at senior levels.
  • Ability to translate complex integration challenges into actionable plans.
  • Structured problem solver with a focus on delivering tangible business outcomes.
  • Collaborative team player with consulting agility and adaptability.
  • Passionate about innovation, digital transformation, and continuous improvement.
As part of a leading global Data and AI company, you can look forward to:
  • A competitive salary with a generous bonus, private healthcare, critical illness life assurance at 4 x your annual salary, income protection insurance, and a rewarding pension.
  • EXL provides everyday financial well-being solutions, such as cash back cards, in which you can earn cashback while enjoying discounts, promotions, and offers from top retailers. We also offer a Cycle Scheme where you can save money on bikes and cycling accessories.
  • At EXL, we are committed to providing our employees with the tools and resources they need to succeed and excel in their careers. We offer a wide range of professional and personal development opportunities. We also support a range of learning initiatives that allow our employees to build on their existing skills and knowledge. From online courses to seminars and workshops, our employees have the opportunity to enhance their skills and stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies.
  • As an Equal Opportunity Employer, EXL is committed to diversity. Our company does not discriminate based on race, religion, colour, national origin, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), sexual orientation, age, or disability status.
  • EXL employees are eligible to purchase stock as part of our Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
  • At EXL, we offer a flexible hybrid working model that allows employees to live a balanced, healthy lifestyle while strengthening our culture of collaboration.
To be considered for this role, you must already be eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
