Job Description

Location: Lisburn: Hybrid

Overview

We are looking for an inquisitive, technically-minded engineer to join our growing team. As an Integration Engineer, you will build the bridge between our Laboratory Information System (LIS) and the wider healthcare ecosystem, ensuring vital patient data flows accurately and securely.

About the Role

In this role, you will work with a mix of industry-standard tools like Rhapsody and our own proprietary Unix-based engine. You will solve puzzles that require technical ingenuity, commercial awareness, and a deep sense of responsibility toward the patients and healthcare outcomes we support.

Primary Role and Responsibilities

Building & Configuring:

Delivering new implementations by developing robust integrations using the Rhapsody Integration Engine and our proprietary integration engine based on Unix.

Investigating & Resolving:

Providing production support by analysing complex data flows (predominantly in HL7 v2) to troubleshoot issues, identifying what's in messages and why, and resolving problems at the source.

Working with Tech:

Navigating a Unix environment, querying Oracle databases, investigating application functionality, understanding integrated systems, and selecting the right tools for the job.

Collaborating & Improving:

You'll help spot problems and opportunities for improvement, and work with other teams across the company to ensure that what we make and how we work are the best they can be.

Engaging with Customers:

Working directly with technical and clinical stakeholders at hospitals and laboratories to make sure we understand their needs and can deliver truly valuable work.

Future Proofing:

While most of our customers rely on HL7 v2, we are FHIR-ready -- you will be part of the global transition of healthcare integration towards modern best practices and new technologies.

About You

Technical Problem-Solvers:

You have experience with or want to master healthcare integration problem-solving using a broad toolkit. You'll be confident navigating everything from command lines to web UIs to get the job done. +

Key Technologies: Unix; Rhapsody Integration Engine; JavaScript; SQL; HL7 v2

Excellent Communicators:

You are enthusiastic about collaborating with colleagues and customers, and are confident in both complex, technical conversations and in translating these to explanations for non-technical stakeholders. You celebrate successes and jobs well done, and make sure to speak up when you're not sure about something.

Lifelong Learners:

You will learn from more experienced team members and take the time to share your knowledge both with your team and with others. You care about enabling everyone to do their jobs well.

Resilient Innovators:

You thrive while working independently, trusted and supported by your colleagues to get work done. You can deliver against established plans, and your "can-do" attitude means you will adapt when things don't go as expected.

Nice to Have

Experience with healthcare, laboratory workflows, or clinical information management Familiarity with regulated environments (e.g., ISO 27001, medical device regulations) Exposure to modern standards (e.g., HL7 FHIR, RESTful APIs, JSON)

This role will be hybrid based from Lisburn, with remote work allowance based on distance from Cirdan's HQ office.
