Goldfinch & Partners is proud to be representing a leading law firm in Altrincham seeking an accomplished Intellectual Property (IP) Lawyer at Senior Associate or Director level. This is a high-calibre opportunity for a dedicated practitioner with deep expertise in commercial and corporate IP law, offering genuine progression, autonomy, and flexible hybrid working.

About the Role

You will play a pivotal part advising businesses on securing, managing, and exploiting their IP assets as well as negotiating and drafting complex commercial agreements. Key responsibilities will include:

Advising on IP strategy for trademarks, patents, designs, and copyrights. Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating IP licensing, assignment, joint development, commercial, and technology agreements. Managing and protecting IP portfolios, including risk assessment, due diligence (especially for corporate deals, M&A, and investments), registration, and renewals. Advising on both contentious and non-contentious IP matters, including dispute avoidance/resolution and enforcement. Supporting data protection and compliance projects as required. Building and maintaining strong, trust-based client relationships at all levels (from scale-ups to established corporates). Mentoring, supporting, and supervising junior lawyers and trainees.
Who We're Looking For

Qualified solicitor or lawyer (UK), with 7+ years' experience in IP law, ideally gained in a commercial and corporate setting. Proven expertise in both commercial exploitation and protection of IP, including commercial contracts and transactional support. Experience dealing with technology, branding, media, or data-driven businesses highly valued. Excellent communication, negotiation, and drafting skills. Strong commercial awareness, strategic mindset, and a solutions-driven approach. Collaborative leader able to support colleagues, develop talent, and represent the firm positively in the market.
