The role



We have high aspirations and standards for ourselves, and our learners and this role will be a key one in supporting the college's mission to be consistently great and ensure our students get the qualifications and skills they need to go further in employment, careers, apprenticeships, further training and university level courses.

This role will specifically support our ambitions for growth and ensuring high quality in our technical further education and skills provision. Responsible for ensuring that all students achieve their potential and continue to develop work related skills whilst at the college and improving and maintaining the quality of provision in the Academy.

Key Objectives:



The current key objectives for the role are:

Improving and maintaining the quality of the provision in the academy so that it is rated at least "Good" by OFSTED or self-assessed to be at least "Good" by the college.


Improving student outcomes on all study programme aspects so that pass rates are maintained at or above National Rates.


Ensuring that Academy growth targets are met, in line with the college's strategy (to 2025).


Lead the achievement of Academy KPIs, including growth and efficiency targets as set during the college's annual Business Planning process.

Main Responsibilities:



As a member of the College Leadership this post will contribute to the CLTs/SLT's common goals. To achieve these specific duties, include, but are not limited to:

Leading on the delivery of a high-quality student experience within your Academy, which results in outstanding achievement, progression and employability outcomes for all students.


Provide an inclusive provision that raises aspirations and secures achievement beyond expectations.


Develop and maintain a relevant and innovative curriculum offer that focuses on student progression and destinations.


Develop and implement new curriculum, where appropriate, in-line with local and national priorities and to meet demand.


Develop and embed operational plans for your Academy that drive curriculum development, quality improvement and develop teaching and learning.


Maintain effective partnerships including with key universities, HEIs, employers, sector bodies (including funding agencies), schools and the local community to ensure students aim high and progress in line with their ability.


Ensures Academy enhancement of Teaching, Learning and Assessment and the implementation of any cross-college training or support relevant to the Technical Education & Skills strategy.


Embed college strategies, policies and procedures which enable an outstanding curriculum and student experience, ensuring the Academy complies with relevant legal duties.


Use relevant data analysis at Academy level to support and bring about improvements. Providing regular management information to relevant parties.


Ensures with the Curriculum managers that all study programme students within the Academy meet the conditions of funding.


Undertake teaching responsibilities, including cover, if required


Provide dynamic, visible and effective leadership and direction across the Academy, ensuring that a solutions focused and supportive culture of continuing professional development inspires, enables, empowers and motivates staff to achieve high standards of performance.


Support the development of the Academy brand. Working with Marketing to effectively promote new opportunities for the Academy and college.


Develop and maintain partnership relationships working with both relevant internal and external partners.


To deliver value for money by leading the annual curriculum/business planning and performance review processes for the Academy to ensure the efficient use of resources and that recruitment, financial and quality performance targets are achieved.


To ensure that environmental sustainability is a key consideration across the Academy, working towards the college's environmental strategy and net zero ambition.


To deputise for the Assistant Principal if and when required; representing the college at events.

What we can offer you



As the successful candidate, you will be offered a salary of between 51,950 - 60,224 per annum based upon a combination of the skills, knowledge and experience that you can bring to the role.
