Overview


Ascendancy Partnership Trust is a family of three SEN schools based in Berkshire (Maidenhead, Woodley and Tilehurst). We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency of our premises. In conjunction with the Director of Estates, you will ensure that the school buildings and the school sites are maintained to a high standard, are secure and offer the maximum effective use to meet the needs of the school day and extended hours provision.

The role includes line management of a team of a site controller and caretakers. You may be required to work at any of our Trust schools.

The ideal candidate will possess strong management capabilities, technical expertise, and leadership qualities to ensure the smooth functioning of all facility-related activities. Responsibilities



Ensure the school is maintained to a high standard, ensuring learning environments are available for use.

Ensure all planned maintenance is carried out in a timely manner.

Ensure the school buildings comply with all current health and safety regulations.

Monitor and maintain the Facilities CAFM system.

Manage all contractors within your area of responsibility, ensuring works are completed to a high standard. Ensure all contractor Health & safety information is up to date and compliant.

To oversee the building management system, door controls and other advanced on-site systems. Ensuring they are fully utilised and managed in the most efficient and effective way to ensure streamlined operation of the site.

To maintain and update a comprehensive cyclical maintenance programme for the building, equipment and all assets.

Maintain an asset log detailing the description, location and value of all assets above a prescribed value.

Manage the security of the site, liaison with security contractors and to ensure that school buildings are secure.

Be responsible for the management of the school minibuses.

Oversee the swimming pool plant room & pool.

Co-ordinate grounds maintenance and ensure work is completed to a high standard.

Ensure that excellent site support is provided to those who have hired the school premises.

To be responsible for the planned and ad hoc maintenance and upkeep of the premises and equipment including the required safety checks.

To be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all building related mechanical, electrical, heating services and other plant, including ensuring the completion of all annual portable appliance testing, monitoring and recording of meter readings/returns as required.

To take appropriate action to ensure and monitor proper safe levels of lighting, heating and ventilation.

Undertake regular site inspections and manage remedial actions.

Car park management and safety.

Be available for out of hours call outs on a rota basis.

Cleaning



To ensure all equipment is recorded on an inventory list and to ensure regular maintenance is carried out.

Arrange procurement of cleaning equipment and materials.

Ensure cleaning records are held and updated as required.

Manage the health and safety of all cleaning equipment and cleaning materials, including, but not limited to risk assessments, COSHH risk assessments and PAT testing.

To keep abreast of best practice and any changes in legislation ensuring this is communicated within the team.

To carry out regular cleaning inspections.

Arrange and manage works carried out by external contractors, i.e. window cleaning

Manage the cleaning contractor.

Health and Safety



Within your area of responsibility ensure risk assessments are in place and risk is managed appropriately.

Ensure working practices are safe and comply with current legislation.

Keep up to date with new and updated legislation

Maintain the COSHH register ensuring Material Data Sheets and COSHH risk assessments are available and maintained for all COSHH items used in school.

Personnel Management



To be fully responsible for the coordination and effective leadership of the maintenance team and ensure efficient deployment of resources to deliver a comprehensive site support service.

Skills



Proven FM experience with strong leadership qualities. A recognised qualification in Facilities Management or substantial relevant professional experience. Experience of managing a large, modern site. Excellent understanding and experience of implementing health and safety legislation and requirements. Experience of managing on-site contractors. An understanding of plant maintenance. Procurement experience and ensuring best value for money. Knowledge of Fire Safety legislation and requirements. Commitment to continuing training/development of knowledge and skills. Own car with business insurance.

Pay: 42,887.00-46,979.00 per year
