Purpose of the Job

The Business Development Group (\'BDG\') main objectives are fourfold! i To establish and develop relations with the objective to generate new business leads with foreign direct investors in EBRD countries; il) To increase the market awareness and visibility of the EBRD in shareholder countries through country visits and (co)-organising business development events, often working closely with Board Constituent Offices; iii: To support the Bank\'s institutional activities, including supporting EBRD senior management visits to shareholder countries and business development initiatives by sector teams.

The BDG consists of team in London, one EBRD representative offices (Japan) and a 3 business development liaison units in Beijing, Seoul and Washington.

Background

The Intern will be part of BD in London and he/she is expected provide general and analytical support to the Director BDG, Head of Business Development as well as to the BDG team members, as determined from time to time by the Director, based on needs and priorities. This internship is for 12 months, with the bank\'s sole discretion it might be extended subject to performance and internal/budgetary considerations.

Accountability and Responsibilities

Support the Business Development (BD) managers in the effective promotion of the Bank\'s capabilities to its clients by facilitating business development activities, focusing on deal origination, and raising awareness of the Bank.

To work closely together with BD managers in all aspects of coordination of marketing business development visits of EBRD senior management (includes President, FVP and BGDs)

To research, analyse and prepare marketing materials for meetings (comprehensive Briefing Packs, presentations, etc);

To provide research and in-depth background information on companies or sectors and to prepare supporting marketing materials such as presentations, pitch books, deal tombstones, etc.

To help coordinate the organisation of the regional business development events in EBRD\'s the countries of operations (liaise with liaise with Banking teams to identify priority sectors, programme, logistical arrangements, marketing materials, etc);

To maintain and regularly update essential marketing materials (including but not limited to; presentations, pitch books, deal tombstones, etc.);

To maintain and timely updated existing Business Development databases (Client Dynamics, BTOR, Slides Library, BD intranet area, BD external webpage, etc;)

To maintain accessibility and quality of relevant information and respond to information requests in a timely manner;

Knowledge, Skills, Experience, Qualifications

Master\'s degree in Business Administration or Finance

Corporate and/or business development, marketing and research experience from a leading investment/merchant or commercial organisation.

Preferred but not required: 1-2 years of corporate, business and/or research background with a reputable (financial) institution;

Good understanding of finance and banking and a basic knowledge and understanding of key marketing principles;

Previous experience with CRM platforms is highly desirable;

Previous experience with intelligence platforms such as Orbis, FDI Markets, Factiva and MergerMarket would be useful;

Positive demeanour, self-driven, initiator and with a \'can-do\' attitude with a feel for commercial opportunities and ability to establish a client relationship;

Ability to prioritise, deliver quality work and services at all times even under tight deadlines. A flexibility allowing him/her to deal effectively in a (sometimes) fast moving environment;

An ability to work successfully in a multicultural environment across geographies and cultures;

Languages: Fluent in English. Knowledge of additional language (German, Italian, French or Spanish) is desirable.

Knowledge of Banking Department\'s procedures and the Bank\'s rules and would be an advantage
