Nottinghamshire Police are seeking students to undertake a Sandwich Intern Placement in our Digital Investigations departments.
The successful candidates will have the opportunity to join one of our Digital Investigations departments, participating in a variety of exciting projects and activities that impact both the department and the wider force.
Whilst this is a zero-hour contract there is an opportunity to work 37 hours per week for the length of your placement. Your working hours will vary depending on the department you are placed in. Some departments operate standard office hours, Monday to Friday, with occasional opportunities to work evenings and weekends where this supports both your development and the needs of the business area. Other departments follow a shift pattern that includes evening and weekend work as part of their regular schedule.
You will be immersed in hands-on experiences and we'll provide you with specific and transferable skills relevant to your future job prospects.
Key Opportunities Include:
Assisting the Digital Multimedia Evidence unit in processing and presenting evidence, including CCTV, audio, and mobile phone footage. You will also attend scenes (accompanied by an experienced practitioner) to recover technically challenging CCTV.
Supporting the Digital Forensic Unit by extracting data from mobile phones and computers using various software tools.
Contributing to the Cyber Crime Unit with research tasks, such as building databases on cryptocurrency wallets/storage. You will also support cyber protect/prevent officers by attending university Freshers' Fairs to assist with delivery and engagement.
Assist the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit with vehicle audits, research assignments, and related operational support.
Booking in evidence within the units.

Key Skills & Experience Required
We are seeking to appoint students who are:
An interest in digital and technical matters, with an aptitude for technology.
Awareness of forensic integrity and the forensic preservation of evidence.
Not essential but beneficial are qualifications and/or experience in a computer, media, cyber or forensic field.
You will be a positive, hard-working and flexible individual capable of working independently, with minimal supervision, as part of a large team. You will have a flair for both technology and investigations.
You will be innovative and forward thinking and will relish the challenge of taking up this role within policing.

Unsociable hours and weekend working allowances will be provided if you are selected for a department with such hours.
