Designed to generate great engagement and involvement, you\xe2\x80\x99ll back up our strategic and business plan by helping create an intranet environment where our people feel connected; fostering a sense of belonging so that they can give their best each day as we strive to deliver a nature-rich future for Scotland. You\xe2\x80\x99ll support the Internal Communications Manager in the planning and delivery of intranet communications and engagement activities that inspire and motivate. You will also assist with general duties of the Internal Communications team, including progressing helpdesk queries, and contributing to the intranet and other internal platforms. To be successful in this role, it\xe2\x80\x99s essential you have a strong knowledge of what good engagement looks like, experience of internal communication work and channels, and other communications activities. You\xe2\x80\x99ll have experience of, and understand, the world of public service. What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do

  • Work with the Internal Communications Manager in planning, developing and internal communications.
  • Write engaging and accurate copy and sourcing appropriate images, posting content on the Microsoft SharePoint-based intranet. Promotion on other communications channels.
  • Advise and influence colleagues on appropriate ways of communicating using our internal communication tools, including working with colleagues on new content from development, to activation to post-publication analytics.
  • Work as part of the Internal Communications team to ensure all communications activity is planned, timing it to make the most of opportunities.
  • Contribute to planning meetings including, quality control, advising on new items, pages and blogs, including helpdesk.
Essential Criteria (Please refer to these in your supporting statement using the STAR method to explain your experience in these areas.) To be successful in this role you will need -
  • Experience of working in an internal communications team in the public or private sector, including managing a team.
  • Expert ability to translate ideas into an engaging intranet campaigns, and of delivering projects from initiation to completion.
  • Expert communication skills, including plain English, applying content design standards, and ensuring content is accessible to users of assistive technologies.
  • Experience of advising and persuading senior colleagues on communications approaches and strategies.
  • Experience in video production for an internal audience, and moderating online meetings and staff events.
  • Expert knowledge of analytics (Google, SharePoint etc.) and preparing reports from data.
Prerequisites Required
  • Applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK and resident in Scotland for the duration of the job contract.
  • To undertake a Disclosure Scotland application.
  • Although Gaelic language is not a prerequisite it is a desirable skill in support of our commitment to our Gaelic Language Plan.
