to join our cybersecurity team in one of the world's leading universities.

Central Oxford / Hybrid Working Available

Salary:

49,119 - 58,265 with a discretionary range upto 63,489

About the Role



Working within a complex and highly federated institution comprising over 200 independent entities, this is a unique opportunity to apply your professional expertise in an intellectually stimulating and technically diverse environment.
You will lead and coordinate independent cybersecurity assurance reviews, providing expert advice to departments, faculties, and colleges, and helping to strengthen the University's cyber resilience. Your work will play a vital role in ensuring that cybersecurity baseline controls are effectively embedded across the institution and that risks are identified, managed, and communicated clearly to senior stakeholders.

This is a wide-ranging and influential role that requires strong professional judgement, technical insight, and the ability to build collaborative relationships across a complex organisation.

About You



You will bring a strong mix of technical expertise, professional experience, and interpersonal skills, including:

A degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related discipline

A recognised professional certification such as CISA, CISSP, or ISO 27001 Lead Auditor (or equivalent)

Substantial experience in internal or IT audit with a strong focus on cyber risk, ideally within a large or federated organisation

In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and risk management approaches (e.g. NCSC, ISO 27001, NIST CSF)

Understanding of relevant UK legislation and regulations, including the Data Protection Act (2018), GDPR, and OfS expectations

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical audiences and influence senior stakeholders

A collaborative and analytical approach, with sound professional judgment and attention to detail

(Desirable)Experience of the higher education or the wider public sector environment

(Desirable)Familiarity with academic research settings and associated cybersecurity challenges
