Oaklands College is seeking an experienced and passionate Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) to join our Apprenticeships and Work-Based Learning Team. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in vocational education, working directly with apprentices training towards their Level 3 Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician qualifications, including Gas.


As a key member of our quality assurance team, you will ensure that assessments are accurate, consistent and fully compliant with awarding organisation criteria. You'll collaborate with assessors, support standardisation, and help maintain the highest quality in delivery and learner outcomes. Working across college sites and employer locations, you'll play a vital role in preparing learners for Gateway and End-Point Assessment, ensuring their portfolios and progress meet all expected standards.

Your day-to-day impact




In this role, you'll be responsible for planning and completing quality assurance activities across apprentice portfolios, ensuring timely assessment and completion in line with audit requirements. You'll provide professional support to assessors, uphold internal and external quality standards, and contribute to the department's IQA strategy. Your role also involves maintaining detailed records, participating in standardisation meetings, preparing for inspections and working closely with awarding bodies to ensure excellence in all aspects of programme delivery.

Is this you?



Hold a Level 3 qualification in Plumbing (including Gas) Possess a recognised IQA qualification (D34, V1, or TAQA) Have a minimum of 3 years' relevant industry experience with ongoing CPD Hold an assessor qualification (e.g., A1, TAQA) Understand apprenticeship standards, assessment processes, and end-point assessment Confident in using e-portfolio systems and digital tracking tools Able to manage your own caseload and meet agreed performance targets Strong communication and interpersonal skills across all levels Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to work independently Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (travel required between sites)
