for trainee IQAs. In this role, you will observe, assess, and provide detailed written feedback on the performance of trainee IQAs to ensure they meet required standards of practice and compliance.
You will serve as a professional mentor and quality benchmark, ensuring that internal quality assurance practices are conducted to the highest level, in accordance with regulatory and awarding body standards.
Key Responsibilities
As an Expert Witness, you will:
Observe and Evaluate Trainee IQAs:
Conduct professional observations of trainee IQAs in practice, either remotely or in person, ensuring their performance aligns with internal and external quality standards.
Provide Constructive Feedback:
Produce clear, evidence-based written feedback that supports trainee IQAs in developing their competence, confidence, and consistency.
Ensure Compliance:
Verify that trainees:
Apply procedures for recording, storing, and reporting internal quality assurance information correctly.
Maintain confidentiality of all IQA documentation and data.
Carry out internal monitoring activities in line with organisational and awarding body requirements.
Apply all relevant policies, procedures, and legislation relating to IQA processes, health, safety, and welfare.
Integrate equality, diversity, and inclusion principles (and bilingualism where applicable) into their IQA activities.
Support Continuous Improvement:
Evaluate how trainee IQAs provide feedback, advice, and support to assessors.
Assess whether trainees identify and promote professional development opportunities for assessors.
Review and verify that standardisation procedures are applied effectively to ensure consistency in assessment practices and outcomes.
Document Evidence:
Maintain accurate records of observations, judgements, and feedback in line with organisational reporting standards.
Contribute to audit trails and internal verification records where applicable.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
A
Recognised Internal Quality Assurer qualification
(e.g., Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice or equivalent).
Minimum of 3 years' experience
as a qualified IQA, with proven involvement in observing and supporting assessors or trainee IQAs.
Strong understanding of
awarding body requirements

within vocational education and training.
Demonstrated experience in applying
equality, diversity, and inclusion
principles and
legislative compliance
in education or assessment settings.
Excellent communication, report writing, and feedback skills.
