About the Role
Bhuku Ltd is seeking a qualified and reflective
Internal Quality Assurer (IQA)
to support the delivery of our Reading Support programme at HMP Winchester. This role is critical to ensuring our delivery meets Ofsted standards, supports continuous improvement, and remains responsive to the unique needs of learners in custody.
The postholder will work closely with our on-site Lead Literacy Facilitator, a TUPE-transferred staff member, and our remote programme management team to maintain high-quality delivery, consistent learner support, and effective reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct regular sampling of learner records, session plans, and progress logs in line with Ofsted's Education Inspection Framework (EIF)
Observe delivery sessions and provide structured developmental feedback to tutors
Identify strengths, areas for improvement, and training needs within the delivery team
Ensure alignment with contract requirements, including:
Effective learner engagement
Targeted support for low-level literacy learners
Inclusive and trauma-informed practice
Support the implementation of internal QA systems and contribute to prison Quality Improvement Group (QIG) activities
Liaise with the Programme Supervisor to inform reporting, compliance, and programme evaluation
Champion continuous improvement and uphold the integrity of teaching, learning, and learner progression evidence
Contribute to tutor CPD planning and reflective practice processes
Recent experience as an IQA in education, adult learning, or offender learning
Sound understanding of Ofsted's EIF, particularly for non-accredited and low-level learning
Commitment to inclusive, learner-centred, and trauma-informed educational practices
Ability to review documentation with accuracy and give clear, actionable feedback
Effective communicator, able to work independently and collaboratively with delivery and management teams
Desirable
Experience working in a prison, probation, or alternative provision setting
Background in adult literacy, SEND, or neurodiversity support
Understanding of the HMPPS Education, Skills and Work Plan or Literacy Strategy
Experience contributing to QIG or other quality governance groups
Working Conditions
On-site every Monday at HMP Winchester (7.5 hours/day)
Work in partnership with the Lead Literacy Facilitator, remote programme lead, and the prison education team
Vetting required (sponsored Enhanced Level 1 clearance process supported by Bhuku Ltd)
Fixed-Term Contract for the life of the delivery programme
