The Registry support all aspects of the student journey, right from initial enquiry and application, all the way through to final award and student completion. About the role
This key role will assume responsibility for the operations within the team, including working within both the University and the UKVI policies and procedures, in order to provide advice and support to current and prospective international students on a wide range of practical issues including CAS issuance, visa advise, enrolment, on programme guidance, attendance, student finance, EU Settlement Status, Federal Loans to ensure that the university is fully compliant within the guidelines of UKVI sponsorship agreements. The post holder will also support with workload planning and the delegation of activities amongst the team in accordance with the International Compliance Manager.

About You
We are seeking an experienced and proactive individual to join our team as an International Compliance Officer. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-focused environment, is committed to supporting international students throughout their journey, and can manage their workload independently while working collaboratively across departments.
You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide specialist advice on complex immigration and compliance matters in a clear, empathetic, and professional manner. Your ability to interpret regulations and apply them practically will be key, as will your confidence in advising both students and colleagues on a range of issues such as visa guidance, enrolment, and attendance compliance.
Excellent data handling and reporting skills are essential, including the ability to maintain accurate records, analyse data, and contribute to audits and regulatory reporting. You will also be comfortable using a range of digital systems to support your work and drive service improvements.
Principal accountabilities To provide support and specialised advice for both staff and students on all matters associated with international admissions, enrolment and during their studies, signposting to internal or external services where appropriate and escalating to the Senior International Compliance Officer when necessary.
Provide support, information and advice relating to non-UK students, ensuring expectations are effectively managed and taking accountability for timely and effective communication.
Support with the design and development of workshops for students. Deliver workshops for students.
Undertake research and contribute to the drafting of briefing papers to ensure that the University is updated on changes to UK immigration regulations and is compliant with any changes.
To support with daily enquiries and process international applicant and student Confirmation of Acceptance (CAS) issuance, ensuring compliance with the University entry criteria and UKVI policies and procedures.
Maintain accurate paper and computerised records on all compliance requirements to support with regular reporting to the UKVI and other external bodies. Use quantitative and analytic abilities to report &/or interrogate data in line with audit requirements and to prevent reoccurrence/strengthen data sets in accordance with the outlined strategy.
Undertake casework, in compliance with legal requirements and in line with the University's own procedures for case management and reporting, in accordance with SLAs.
Undertake the attendance monitoring processes for non-UK students in order to ensure that in compliance of UKVI directive. This will require interventions to be made, including holding formal interviews with students identified at risk.
Support with the US Federal Aid Programme processes. Including annual audits. Ensure that US Loan applications are securely stored and managed in accordance with GDPR, US Department of Education and US legislative requirements.
Assist with any compliance visits and/or audits for external bodies under the remit of the post.
Support the University's enrolment function for international students with regards to the completion of right to study checks.
To participate in international events as and when required. To assist with Open Days and special events either in an office-based role or as part of the activity itself.
To ensure effective communication with the Senior International Officer and International Compliance Manager regarding work in progress, implementation of developments and emerging trends or issues.
Support the development and documentation of all key policies, procedures and standards relating to the team. Support the embedding of new/revised processes into functional areas.
To be proactive in the identification and production of report development from internal data sets to assist with data usage, audit requirements or for supporting key decision making and/or policy definition.
To ensure your knowledge of UKVI related and Admissions systems matters are kept up to date, through training provided. Promote and exemplify the values behaviours and attributes associated with the role, Registry and the University.

Qualifications
GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C (or above) or equivalent Level 2 qualification or proven professional experience

Experience
Experience of working within a compliance and governance role
Experience of interpreting regulations and legislation to ensure compliance along with supporting internal and external stakeholders
Experience of providing immigration advice preferably within an HE or FE setting. Including undertaking specialist immigration casework
A working knowledge of UK immigration law as it relates to prospective students
Proven experience of understanding UKVI compliance measures
Experience of working with people from a diverse range of cultural and socio-economic groups
Experience of good practice in customer service
