The International Payroll Consultant, France & UK will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees in France and the United Kingdom. Working with our payroll processing partners and internal teams, you will manage the end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, collective bargaining agreements (CBA), and internal policies, while delivering an excellent employee experience.
Key capabilities

  • Fluent in French (desirable) and English (spoken & written)
  • Review existing payroll processes and controls, recommending and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Validate payroll calculations whilst complying with French labour laws, social security regulations, and applicable tax obligations.
  • Implement and maintain robust payroll control processes, including reconciliations, four-eye checks, and variance analysis.
  • Identify, document, and mitigate payroll-related risks in line with internal risk and divisional controls requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of legislative changes and liaise with the appropriate teams within P&C to ensure those changes are captured.
  • Prepare / Review statutory reports (e.g., P60/P45/P11D in the UK; DSN / URSSAF, in France).
  • Comfortable working with and manipulating datasets / information using tools such as Excel to validate accuracy of data
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with our payroll processing partners and to troubleshoot and problem-solve using HCM solutions and tools - e.g. troubleshooting integration files and data feeds

  • Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) support to projects
  • Ability to operate in a highly regulated environment, including complying with all internal risk, control and governance protocols.
  • Liaise with payroll providers to ensure service delivery meets agreed-upon standards and address any discrepancies or issues
  • Ensure accuracy of all payroll changes
  • Generate and analyse payroll-related reports (e.g., variance reports, headcount, tax, pension etc.) to ensure accuracy and compliance with in-country legislation and policies
  • Auditing of payroll data to maintain accuracy and integrity of the payroll function, including reconciliations with finance
  • Point of contact for international payroll-related queries, providing timely and accurate advice to colleagues on payroll processes, policies and systems
  • Lead delivery of year-end payroll reports and statutory filings to meet compliance with filing and reporting deadlines
  • Delivery of requests for information from business areas including reward and equity teams.
  • Responsible for the scheduled and ad hoc reviews for changes and updates to and the creation of new (where required) payroll process documentation to reflect current practices and governance standards, to NAB templated standards
  • Responsible to perform control self-assessments and uplift payroll controls as and when required
  • Follow appropriate guidelines for escalations / dispute resolution
  • Provide recommendations for process improvements to better serve our colleagues
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of payroll data, adhering to data protection and GDPR requirements
  • Lead and/or provide SME support to payroll projects as required
  • Contribute to the sharing of knowledge to ensure effective collaboration and cross skill of all team members
  • Support internal and external audit process including remediation of audit items
  • Execute all duties in line with internal processes and policies and; risk, control and governance protocols.
Experience
  • Hands-on operational payroll processing (mandatory)
  • UK and French payroll processing including knowledge of related legislative requirements (mandatory)
  • Working knowledge of manual payroll calculations (mandatory)
  • Maintaining integrity of data (mandatory)
  • International assignees/shadow payroll and shares processing (highly desirable)
  • Strong proficiency with Excel and similar tools (mandatory)
  • Process documentation and maintenance (mandatory)
  • Working with integrated HR and Payroll systems e.g. SAP Payroll, Workday, ADP iHCM (highly desirable)
  • Project and process improvement exposure (highly desirable)
  • Payroll accounting e.g. tax control accounts, pension control accounts (mandatory)
  • Working in Financial services or another highly regulated sector (mandatory)
Qualification Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years' UK and France payroll experience or CIPP qualification (mandatory)
  • Tertiary qualified in Business, Accounting or HR-related discipline (desirable)

  • Support SLAs for payroll accuracy (i.e. minimising post-processing adjustments) and on-time payroll processing
  • Compliance with in-country legislation and regulations or appropriate escalation as required
  • Timely response and resolution of payroll queries
  • Contribute to accurate working documentation
  • Provide recommendations for process changes to ensure better ways of working
  • Proactively manage risk, escalating events, issues or breaches as they are identified
  • Manage controls - adhering to process and procedures pertinent to role
