The Department

Cyclops Excess's core business is buying and managing surplus and obsolete Electronic Component inventory from international Manufacturing and Distribution companies. We manage the entire process including the marketing, the purchase of stock, the logistics and the sale of stock back to the electronics market. Our work in the electronics industry for over 30 years has led to our envied reputation.

The position

The Data Analyst will be responsible for analysing surplus inventory lists using in-house systems and a range of external online databases to assess product availability, market demand, pricing trends, and resale potential. The role will involve identifying commercially viable stock opportunities, validating data accuracy, and prioritising purchases based on costs, turnover, and risk.

In addition, the Data Analyst will work closely with suppliers to negotiate purchase prices and commercial terms, to secure the best possible value for the business. This includes comparing supplier offers, tracking historical pricing, monitoring market movements, and supporting buying decisions to maximise profitability and stock efficiency.

To assist other members of the excess team and cover absences when required. The role requires someone who is a highly motivated, enthusiastic and organised individual.

The Role

Liaising with the warehouse, accounting, marketing and IT depts to optimise the function of the business Uploading of excess stock lists for analysis and bidding Prepare follow up to excess evaluations and to assist in bidding Provide logistical support to the excess purchasing department. OEM consignment profiling and reporting with targeted objectives Manage available stock lists from OEMs High value quote reporting and follow up. Maintenance of the email marketing database and liaise with our marketing department to help optimise the online presence Profiling existing customers and Database Management To provide absence cover for the reseller division Pricing and evaluation of stock Negotiation with external and internal purchasing and sales teams Report generation and analysis Risk and impact assessment of the purchasing process for excess stock

Personal Attributes

Self-motivated and organised. Able to work under pressure and on their own initiative. Good communication skills, in person and on the telephone. Computer literate with good skills in excel and all-round technical ability. Strong reporting skills to help analyse process and data Good numeracy skills and an understanding of working with exchange rates. Able to make competent decisions in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of purchasing and sales processes Ability to work with an International database.
